I'm pleased to say that my attendance at the new [to me] camera club I recently joined bore some fruit. Following this week's talk I was inspired to not only get the camera out again but also to try a shooting mode I had previously avoided. Having been an avid AP mode shooter, I read up on and tried the fully manual mode for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised at the tonal differences but also that I could actually distinguish between the 2 modes of shooting.

Okay, I still couldn't resist a little tweaking in Adobe Lightroom but I did notice that I didn't have to do quite as much work in terms of white balance and exposure as I might have had to do having shot in AP mode.

This image shows a 3rd crop of roses from this standard rose called "Many Happy Returns" and was taken following an afternoon shower.

I will be shooting more often in fully Manual Mode and hope to get better at it.
