A nod to Black Oak Brweing's 10 Bitter Years Imperial IPA (pictured in comments) and the 17 years that Black Oak and Great Lakes were neighbours. Black Oak was purchased by Silversmith in 2022.

AAW October 7 - 14: Back to the Grind
WIT: This is the finished product. Placed it on the bar for ambiance (and I often have it at the bar after dinner anyway), and used an aperture that would create the bokeh. I wasn't sure how the Fuji's camera bokeh would be, I think it turned out okay. In post dodged and burned a bit, and cropped to 8 by 10.

But in the fall or early spring, when most of the hotels are closed for the season, it is simply delicious!
A hat-coat-scarf and a plan to have a good dinner at one of the few restaurants that are open, with good local wine, and conversation... is always welcome...

Yesterday's goose egg which was eaten with asparagus and soldiers. It looks normal size but it was huge - it's sitting in an espresso cup.
Since the famous fresh fruit donuts weren't available, I asked the server to pick an assorted dozen for me. The donuts here are enormous! Solid and impressively dense without being at all too chewy or dry. The glazes were just right. The tiger tail (the glazey twist with a devil's food stripe) was my favorite, but the donuts were all delicious.
Best donut in California? I don't know. There is one shop called Stan's in Santa Clara that makes the best glazed donut I've ever tasted. I'll have to reserve final judgement for when I can try a Donut Man strawberry donut. I will say for now that Donut Make makes the best donuts in Southern California.
