This is a photo of my mother in the studio. I misunderstood the assignment and only had one model. unfortunately my session was booked at 6-8pm so there weren't any stragglers around the Hallway. all in all I do like this photograph as I feel like it fits my mother's personality well. I also feel like the lighting complimented her sharper features such as her shoulders and neck, but also was soft enough where it complimented her skin tone and stood out against the background and her shirt. I don't like how pixel-y the background looks. I don't know how to fix that yet, but other than that both she and I like this photo.
K2, red printing, pre-1998 logo flattened to all red.
A misunderstood classic! This style of K2 box is fondly remembered by AFOLs of a certain age because they were once used as the shipping cases for parts for the Pick-A-Brick walls at LEGO stores. These boxes have not been used for that purpose for at least 16 years that I'm aware of, but you'll occasionally hear older AFOLs speak of "K2s" or "K boxes" that they purchased Pick a Brick parts in or from. The exact timeline is hard to pin down (and memories are unreliable), but I believe these boxes with red printing were replaced with boxes with black printing before they fell out of common use (at least for Pick a Brick walls) in favor of more generic boxes (which were known as Pick a Brick cases for some time).
The sticker on this particular box indicates that it was used for an XPOD promotion in 2004. Another side of this box has unrelated notes in sharpie - I salvaged this after an AFOL convention where someone had abandoned this after previously storing other LEGO items inside of it. Naturally, I wanted it for historical interest... while I believe I have other true K2 boxes (not more recent PAB cases that are often incorrectly referred to as K2s), I think this is the only one I have with red printing instead of black.
The opossum is probably the most misunderstood animal in the world. They are very shy, rarely, if ever have rabies and my research and experience says they do not bite. Youtube has many great educational videos about them. Opus The Opossum an evening image. IMG_9535

Last March was a stressful time for many in the group I where I used to work. Lots of knee-jerk decisions being made and "my emergency is now your emergency" type crap going on.
So my peers and I sit in cubicle land (ever seen the movie Office Space?) just down the aisle from this railing over looking the 1st floor. One of my peers had just come out of one of the managers offices looking a little perturbed. So I made this sign and stuck it on the railing... because we all joked about holding each other back or making diving motions over the rail. Well everyone of my peers thougt it was hilarious. Nice little tension breaker.
Unfortunately one of the managers was not overly pleased and began to walk down the row questioning my peers asking them if they knew who did it. They all said no, but that they thought it was funny. Well, the manager got to my desk and glared at me and said "do you know who did this? I replied "I did, it was a joke" and they stormed off!! It was April fools day... So later the manager pulled in the remaining peers that they didn't get to question and asked the question they already had the answer to... who did it? They all said they didn't know (when they did) and that they thought it was funny.
So this made it up to the VP of my group who was away on business. When they got back they agreed it was funny and told me not to worry about it. To this day I have no idea where the sign ended up. It did bounce around from office to office, but I don't know where it is today. Good thing I took a picture of it!!
The much maligned and misunderstood plant that is stupidly the scourge of the US gov't. Raw leaves are extremely medicinal, high in calcium, and chewing brings gentle mental acuity and helps with altitude sickness. I drank the tea daily. It takes something like 50 kilos of raw plant material to produce a few grams of illicit material, which has so many other chemicals added to it that the actual propoerties of the Coca leaf are destroyed.
The mysterious and misunderstood: Humboldt Squid. Generally considered highly aggressive, new evidence indicates they are only aggressive during feeding. Their endemic range extends from Tierra del Fuego to S. California, though lately they have been seen as far north as Alaska; possibly as a response to a reduction of prey in their native territories. They have been seen at depths of up to 2300 feet ( 700 meters ). They grow to lengths of approximately 5.7 feet ( 1.7 meters ) and may weigh up to as much as 110 pounds ( 50 kilograms ). They can change their coloring from deep purple to to white, when they choose. They have an average lifespan of 2 years. #ourbreathingplanet
