Project 366-1 (2010) October 15, 2010 288/365

We left the jade plant out on the deck too long. I thought is was protected from frost because it was under an eave.

The trials of the dual ampage concept continued with arch enemies Fender and Marshall. On the left you see a lovely 70's Fender Twin. On the right, a lovely 70's Marshall JPM (Brad's). If you know me, you know I'm an unlikely candidate for brand loyalty, but I definitely have it for Fender - I'm a Fender man through and through. So after recording all the guitar tracks, we thought it sounded excellent, and were all very happy - BUT the next day Brad and I learned only the Marshall mic had picked up, and so only the Marshall tracks were recorded. Do you understand? On this recording, I'm a Marshall Man. I've joined the ranks of AC/DC, Aerosmith, and Gn'R.

Another Mistake @ Ear X-Tacy's After Dark show series

Tried to do a step-up onto a large rock and misjudged chainring clearance. After I picked myself and the bike up I discovered I bent a few teeth - just the excuse I've been looking for to replace this Sora group.

Another Mistake @ Ear X-Tacy's After Dark show series

I accidentally pressed the shutter, I actually don't remember when, but it came out not so bad.

All that work with manhole covers and more often than not, they are incorrectly put... I like the effect here, a different quilt pattern in the mix - btw the stars are the city flag

Whipping cream pancakes

let me preface this with......I had heavy cream in the house (3 pints) to make ice cream.......planning on still making some soon!

this is a bad photo of the LAST bites

they were sooo good

I was out of milk and my buttermilk had gone soooo bad.....my options were soy creamer or whipping (heavy) cream

so I invented a recipe that worked

1 cup whipping cream

1/4 cup simple syrup

1 T vanilla

2 eggs

2 T baking powder

1 cup flour (I used all purpose)

1/2 t salt

juice of 1/2 a lemon

I usually mix the batter first and let it sit/soften the gluten about 20 minutes or more

when the batter did not look bubbly like it normally does I thought i was doomed

BUT i think the larger fat molecules of the cream might have inhibited the baking powder from festering

so I proceeded to cook just one pancake to test it and it sure rose on the griddle and acted nice and fluffy....I flipped it without a tear or losing any batter.....and then after it was done cooking.....I tasted it without syrup...and YUM

so I made some maple butter syrup and sausages and the batter made 8 large pancakes!

yummy breakfast!

So I was editing this image and I was adding the frame I usually place around my images and hit the wrong option...fluorescent chalk. I thought it looked pretty cool. I will post the original image later. I have to get over to a friends to snap some more pics of his snakes for a website.

I was borrowing my friend's camera to take these pictures, and I made a few mistakes with the focus like this. But I liked this one.

Early morning sunrise. Taylors Mistake, Christchurch, New Zealand. Looking around past the of the Banks Peninsula hills.

Was blowing off the reviewer who mentioned that you better know how to change a flat if you want to get to the Zigzag Loop trailhead.

That would be an understatement.

It sounded simple enough. Just head up 26, hang a left after Rhododendron, then go five miles until the road dead ends. And at first it was, simple, I mean. I found the road, Mr. Higgins was beside himself with happy visions of forest romping, and hey, the route is actually paved.

For about a half mile.

And then it changed into a teeth-rattling obstacle course that alternated between boulders, sharp rocks and sharp rocks in water-logged potholes.

My second mistake

Was continuing to abuse my little car thinking that maybe it’ll smooth out if I just go around this one more bend. ‘cause everybody knows that mountains get less rocky the higher they get. Yup.

After forty minutes and three miles, I finally gave up. Henry and I hiked the last two miles to the trailhead because, by god, we were going to get there.

Miraculously, the Acura’s tiny tires held and I wasn’t stranded in the middle of the wilderness alone... whew.

When it all goes wrong... A classic heel-edge catching in deep powder.

Pretty damn happy. Had no idea what the next thirty minutes would take.

Okay, I can spot my first mistake on this one. Big blown highlight on forehead. In hindsite i think i should have flagged the blue flash so it was just hitting my back ground and not lighting my model.

Second mistake. I think i've left two much space at the top of the frame. Without that i could have probs fitted on the whole jacket.

Ami okay to chop a bit of elbow off? Or is that a massive no no? I've got most of the joint there so it doesn't look like the forearm is floating.

This scarf is knitted using the mistake stitch. I used up a lot of leftover bits of Vanna's Choice and Michael's Impeccable yarns.

The final ascent to the base of Mistake Creek falls is a 2km bushwhack.
