A 1960's postcard showing the miniature railway at Christchurch featuring the Coronation Class locomotive which appears to have a darker coloured paint scheme than in other photos.
Note the adverts for period comics such as Dandy and Eagle around the station shop. A short cine film clip of this railway along with others taken in the 1960s can be seen here www.flickr.com/photos/duke_of_milan/14008971145/

This is a small thumb plane about two inches long. The thumb rest is removeable. It has a skew blade which makes it really excellent for very fine work on end grain. It is made from steel from a piece of box section tube. A short piece was cut off the end of the tube and this formed the body of the plane. The sole is brazed on and is in two pieces which allowed me to make a very fine mouth. Despite its small size, the thumb rest makes it easy to hold and it works extremely well.
The Re-ment Addicts Group did a Color Theme Challenge quite some time ago, but I didn't have time to do it. I was inspired by all of the great photos they did, so now that I have a lot of time on my hands, I decided it would be fun to do. I am going to do the whole rainbow, and probably post way more photos than I should!

Miniature French Petzval, 2 inch focus, late 1850s, early 1860s. Some refer to these as apprentice pieces or exhibition pieces, the real origin is not recorded. I have handled four of these and know of another three, I doubt if more than 20 were ever made. The lens is a perfect miniature, the glass being just under 1/2 inch diameter giving exceptional results on my Olympus E-P1

This is the miniature Merlion fountain situated behind the full size Merlion which you can see just to the top left. This is a bokeh pano. It is made up of 29 images shot wide open at f1.4 with the 85mm GMaster. The images are stitched together like a panorama. If I were to shoot this same composition with the 85mm I'd have to stand very far away. So effectively I'm shooting this like I would have a 24-28mm wide angle lens with a hypothetically faster aperture, faster than f1.4
Setting up a quick scene with my new Re-Ment goodies. Its what I imagine a nice Sunday brunch with a good friend would look like =)
Continuing our miniature Oribana project... and here is another artwork for the miniature version of our Oribana composition called SOLO.
The starring vase is Yuri's design called Solo, hence the name of the composition. The flower design is my Solo-Lily, a special kind of an imaginary bloom :-)
The vase is just 4 cm high, 1-3/4 inches, and the whole arrangement is 4 inches high (10 cm).
Used wonderful hand-made Japanese paper Moriki Kozo for the flowers, classic origami paper for the greens and some silvery designers paper for the vase.
Note for origami enthusiasts: The step-by-step diagrams on how to fold the composition are published in our ORIBANA BEAUTY
www.oriland.com/store/collections/oribana_beauty/main.php Happy folding!

Today was the 25th annual miniatures show held by the West LA miniatures club known as "Miniatures West." I usually go; there are pictures in my stream from previous years. None of the displays here were made by me; they were the presentations made my Miniatures West members and their friends.
