"I have all the photography gear I'll ever need," said no photographer ever. Kwanon saves his change to put towards new equipment in a camera lens coin bank a friend gave him. He came across a 1972 silver dollar to add to his photography addiction fund, but the coin is too big to fit in the slot! The Camera is scratching his lens, wondering what to do now.

Kwanon's second favorite part of Thanksgiving after taking pictures of the delightful food is making his custom turkey sandwich with leftovers on Black Friday. Of course, he had to take a photo of that as well!

Poor Vollenda. Her Viewfinder hurts. She took too many pictures and strained her eyes. She put a hot gel mask on her lens to soothe the pain and kept her lens cap on. Too sick to move, but she would not miss Photo of the Day. The only picture she could muster up energy to take was of the mask itself. She opened her shutter for a quick picture and closed her eyes again.

Vollenda loves designing not only photo art, but also graphics. She freehand created an image of a camera designed with American flag attributes, which she had put onto a backpack. The Camera needed another bag that size, so why not order one with her own design? An artist just wouldn't feel right wearing a backpack around with a design someone else made. Whatever would you say if someone asked if you drew it? But now, if Vollenda receives a compliment on her bag, she can add, "Thank you, I designed it myself." ;-)

A photographer has to have his tools and more than those for his camera. Like any man, Kwanon loves a good project, especially when it's related to photography.

Knowing they'll be gone soon, Kwanon also spotted some colors of fall he couldn't resist capturing: a burning red bush by the mailbox. The bush has thin branches, but his lighter body was able to balance for a few shots. In this image, his lens captured the reflection of the train station building. #howcool

At some restaurant somewhere, because of a creative then and now commercial aired repeatedly during the Olympics, there are twenty less Chicken McNuggets to sell tonight. Advertising works at its finest! Even though a certain miniature Camera recognizes it as a successful advertisement, she couldn't keep ignoring her taste buds' cravings, which fire up every time she sees said commercial.

Kwanon threw a deep fry party for non-photographer friends, but he managed to sneak in some pictures. When no one else was in the room, he took a photo of the guest of honor in the kitchen, the deep fryer. The Camera balanced on the edge to get a good view of the French fries cooking, risking death by boiling hot oil if he fell in the fryer. Kwanon snapped a few images and carefully got down, as even along the top edge of the appliance, he could feel his body burning hot.

A giant pencil calls for a giant idea. Vollenda switched arts today and wrote a poem -- about her photography. It's always about the photography!

"Only 9º? It's too cold to go back outside to take Photo of the Day tonight," Kwanon complains, reminding Vollenda how she refused to go out in the summer's heat.

As many weddings as Vollenda has photographed, one would think she is a wedding expert. However, looking at the dresses through this bridal boutique's window, Vollenda is reminded she has never actually been the bride yet.

A client brought Vollenda a greeting card today as a sample of what she wanted created again. The front cover of the card had the restored image of a convex oval photograph Vollenda did a photo restoration on back in 2012. The Camera didn't remember the lady but as soon as she saw the picture, she remembered the job. An artist never forgets a piece they put hours of work into, the image burned into their retina from staring at it so long.

Every photographic artist should have a favorite place to go to. Somewhere they can take wondrous photographs while remembering those images taken there in the past. Somewhere that inspires their inner artist. A place they can call home.
Vollenda is lucky to still have access to these childhood serenities; the Camera is gracious many of these places even still exist today, so she can visit her memories and take new ones. (Yes, "take," not "make"âº)

As the celebration continued, Vollenda hurried to set up a scene for the new Photo of the Day since it was now after midnight. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series after a 108-year drought! A miracle like that is beyond Photo of the Day worthy. There were neighbors screaming and fireworks outside, but the best moment to capture for this memory is where this Camera personally was when history was made.
NOTE: At 12:23 a.m., today's image now holds the record for the earliest time of day Photo of the Day has been taken. It stole the honor from February 14th's photo, taken at 1:14 am. These are the only two Photos of the Day to date that have been taken before going to sleep for the night.

Vollenda being a creative artist made Thanksgiving-themed ornaments years ago to put on the Halloween tree after its holiday, including a turkey treetop. This year she bought a bare fall-looking tree with minimal colored leaves and added a light string with each bulb colored orange and purple. The Camera celebrates each holiday to its fullest with artistic projects, themed decorations, and holiday photography.
