Vollenda loves to receive clever novelty photography gifts. She really likes this tiny ceramic camera trinket box. For some reason, it practically feels like she is looking at her own reflection in a mirror. Vollenda thinks, "My oh my, what a cute little Camera!"

Vollenda has been told she sees two-dimensionally (like a camera), so maybe that's why this 2D light appealed to her. It slowly changes cycles among red, blue, and green, so the Camera shot a series of bracketed exposures of each color. When she was merging the images to HDR, it dawned on the digital artist, what would happen if she merged a different exposure time of each of the three colors? What if she merged all five exposure times of all three colors? This was the result of that color mixing. The photo looks like it was painted digitally, but it wasn't; it is just the combination of all the colors the lamp flashes!

My first Oerol experience was quite nice, even though we got to see only a handful of theatre shows. But Terschelling itself is the main atraction anyway. And we were damn lucky with the weather.

"Look for Circles Day" is a great holiday for a photographer to participate in, with photographers quite often looking for shapes in their composition. Vollenda found over 10 circles just among her usual daily work in imaging and media. Then she realized her own lens was also a circle, so she had to put herself in the picture with the other circles she found.

Vollenda likes triangles. Maybe it stems from a photographer composing with the golden triangle, as only a photographer would have a favorite shape. Kwanon bought her this Rubik's Pyramid (Pyraminx) after she joked there should be a Rubik's cube triangle.

Tonight, Vollenda noticed the public works crew had began wrapping Christmas garland around the village's lampposts. With minimal daylight left and no tripod in hand, luckily Vollenda had her f/1.4 lens to shoot her first photo of the season of the city's decorations.

Walking around the flower pot to find the best lighting, Vollenda captured these red flowers, which are still surviving the fall weather, in the now-early-setting sun's light. A truck with orange cones in back happened to drive through the intersection as she was taking the shot with her 24mm, and she also captured the orange engine of the BNSF freight train moving along on the tracks behind the red and white striped crossing arm and flashing red lights. Since these reds and oranges complimented her red-orange subject, she decided not to crop them out of the final picture.

This tiny visitor was hanging around on the door all morning. Vollenda, who researched it to be a pale green assassin lymph, wanted to photograph the insect, but she didn't have any of her cameras. She was offered a Nikon camera, which she accepted to not miss the shot.

NOTE: Kwanon didn't want to take today's photo because he does not like bugs. After the Nikon camera was presented to use, Kwanon absolutely refused the shot! What would his family say if they knew he used a Nikon? Yoshi and Mae would not be happy with their son!

Vollenda hung her winter wreath with round purple textured lights and silver leaves. She thought the way the leaves colored purple in this HDR image was a cool effect.

Modellers brought their wonderful scaled down Lancasters to East Kirkby. We attached our minicameras in some unusual positions to get a new perspective of the Aviation Heritage Centre.

Like any photographer, Kwanon displays pictures on his refrigerator of family and friends. But, his pictures are actually magnets themselves, cut out in each Camera's true-to-life body shape.

Vollenda wanted Mexican for lunch today because she wanted to celebrate National Taco Day. However, she ordered an enchilada instead. Luckily, Contessa had ordered tacos and let her daughter photograph them before she ate them. A photographer's mother is used to such things. Thanks, Mom! ;-)

When Vollenda heard it was chicken wing day, she of course had to celebrate her favorite buffalo wings, since she shot the chili dog yesterday. However, she was hungry and ate all but one wing before getting the camera (hey, that one took control to save!). How do you photograph one lonely buffalo wing? Add a tube of lipstick for juxtaposition. Why lipstick? One reason, Vollenda will reapply her lipstick after devouring the saucy wing. The other reason, it is also National Lipstick Day today!

For Christmas Bryan bought me this mini camera (that even flashes!) Attached to the key chain part was the most beautiful peridot ring I have ever seen (the one on my finger)...I didn't notice it for a while, he had to actually point it out because I was playing with the camera too much.

Raspberries, blueberries, cherries, strawberries, and rhubarb, all these fresh fruits at the Farmers' Market this morning. Kwanon had an important decision to make. Which fruit did he want? The one he planned on or the one the farmer said was going out of season? Such a tough decision to make on which fruit to...photograph! He decided on blueberries with some pints of raspberries.

Kwanon and Vollenda were taking self portraits together today, forced to use the camera's self-timer because the intervalometer was not functioning properly. Vollenda decided it would be funny to snap a photo looking at the camera, right as the camera was taking the shot of them.

NOTE: This is the first time another image appears as a smaller inset in Photo of the Day, used to indicate the perspectives of both the photographer and model.

Leah's car is under there somewhere.

Vollenda is examining a dent which left a folded crease in her new photo placemats. How dare a postal worker bend her envelope during shipping, thus destroying a piece of her artwork! Luckily, the Camera was able to get a replacement order after sending the pictures of the damage to customer service. But, now she has to wait again for delivery.

Kwanon couldn't decide if he wanted the lime shaped and flavored candy or the watermelon. The watermelon is aesthetic with the RGB complementary colors pair, yet the lime is a realistic life size. When in doubt, photograph both! (He did eat both of them after he took his shots for the day).

Is it espresso or a chocolate ganache? Coffee or dessert, that doesn't matter to Vollenda at the moment. She's focused on the cute tiny cup with a cute tiny spoon, knowing she is just the cute tiny Camera to take such a shot (no pun intended).

Vollenda believes to capture a true portrait of someone, you have to know the traits that makes them who they are. Sometimes, this involves walking a mile in their shoes â or in this case, graham crackers â in order to know the people some s'more.

"I have all the photography gear I'll ever need," said no photographer ever. Kwanon saves his change to put towards new equipment in a camera lens coin bank a friend gave him. He came across a 1972 silver dollar to add to his photography addiction fund, but the coin is too big to fit in the slot! The Camera is scratching his lens, wondering what to do now.
