Vollenda noticed a while back that her new flipflops matched colorwise to her new camera-designed purse. The trendy Camera used Handbag Day as an opportunity to document her excellent color correlation abilities. Yes, she must be a photographer to match accidentally like that!

I bought this little toy camera key chain that actually has a flash, makes me feel so...uhm...big?

Vollenda's other camera hasn't been feeling well. His door broke off and has been sealed with only tape for the past two weeks. Today the patient is finally undergoing surgery to implant a new door. Luckily, Kwanon is a Camera Doctor and could perform the procedure himself, so Six D. didn't have to travel to a camera hospital and be admitted for a couple weeks.

"My poor baby," Vollenda sobbed as the operation began.

NOTE: I am pleased to report the patient made it through surgery and had a 100% recovery!

Kwanon was a photographer long before digital and shot many different types of film. Those he didn't use himself, he handled regularly as a photofinisher. Thus, the Camera is very knowledgeable about identifying, preserving, and digitizing old negatives. They are a part of his own history and some his family lineage.

When she found out today was "Pretend to be a Time Traveler Day," 'when' did Vollenda want to visit? A great moment in history? A futuristic time? No, she chose the beginning of this year when Kwanon started the Photo of the Day project by himself before she arrived from overseas. Wishing she had been there from the start, Vollenda wanted to see Kwanon in action.

So today, the photographer pair time traveled to Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 1:39 p.m., a day and time Kwanon was scanning 35mm film in the photo lab. Vollenda assumed the role of the Ghost of Photography Past as the miniature cameras watched the photo scene from aside in "A Christmas Carol" style.

Learning a time travel lesson from "Back to the Future," the time traveling duo was careful so that the Kwanon of 11 months ago didn't see the Present-Day Kwanon, as they didn't want to chance altering the space-time continuum in any way that could affect this year's Photo of the Day project. This wasn't hard since the Other Kwanon had been really focused on his work that day, which December 2016 Kwanon didn't recall until he observed his past self in action working.

thabo has been interested in photography for awhile. He has been asking me about composition and how light changes and influences pictures. I decided to buy him a camera so that he can start taking pictures. Because he is a rather small teddy bear, I had to look for a camera that wasn't too big and too heavy for him.

Vollenda knows every detail in a portrait is important, such as having the appropriate fingernail polish color. Add "painting nails" to the list of prep work for a photo shoot!

Taken with an M3 Mini

Vollenda took Photo of the Day outside the doctor's office today. Her body needed an injection for pain. Carrying a camera all the time puts a lot of strain on a photographer, just as image editing on the computer all day does a Photoshop artist.

Vollenda looked for a smiley to photograph for World Smile Day and thought of her painted pumpkins. After taking a few shots, she turned the carved pumpkin to face outward in her window for street traffic to see, but she saw an spooktacular sight herself: the glowing candle was projecting the face onto the window screen, reflecting back at her. She immediately photographed that for Photo of the Day instead.

Nothing cures the hunger after a hard day's work on a photo printing project like a Big Mac, Chicken McNuggets, and French fries with a Hot Fudge Sundae for dessert. Kwanon treated Vollenda, Contessa, and Nagel, who all helped with the job, to the Irish restaurant for dinner. The Cameras were both so involved that they forgot to snap Photo of the Day during this extra weekend project, so dinner after the job was the next best photo! (They also forgot to adjust the time on this camera before using it!) #imlovingit

Kwanon borrowed a traffic cone for an added element in a photo of Public Works graffiti. He wouldn't have had to carry it the block to the location, however, because there was another cone by the painted sidewalk he wanted to photograph. But since he had them, the Camera made use of both construction cones in his shot. Like any honorable photographer, Kwanon returned the original cone to where he found it.

While Kwanon's father was in surgery today, Kwanon explored the hospital. The Camera ate in the cafeteria, checked out the vending machines, and of course, took Photo of the Day. Even at the hospital, a photographer finds interesting views to capture!

Waiting at the railroad crossing for both freight and Metra trains to pass in opposite directions, Kwanon hurriedly pulled out his camera to photograph the flashing light and crossing arm before it raised back up. He got his shots just in time, making it down safely.

Truth be told, a photographer at a wedding will always observe the style and equipment of the wedding photographer, especially if they themselves shoot weddings. When a second photographer escorts the first to the event, the photography discussion is insanely magnified, as there is someone else attending who actually understands their dialect.

Tiny camera for him

Vollenda attended the art and crafts show in La Grange today. She loves looking at the vendors' jewelry, photographs, homemade crafts, and repurposed items, as they sometimes inspire a design idea of her own. A true artist appreciates another artist's work. Vollenda especially loves art created with found objects, as it has been an increasing trend of her own the last several years.

my first camera

Although Kwanon already called dibs on Photo of the Day for National Ice Cream Day, Vollenda took a picture of her celebratory root beer float. She thought it was also a great picture for today's Photo of the Day, so there are two official photos today. But hey, a day to celebrate ice cream deserves two images!

To honor the birthday of László József Bíró, who invented the first commercially successful ballpoint pen,

Kwanon took out his pen collection. The Camera constructed a time line from quills to fountain pens to today's modern ballpoint.

Power towers in the morning sun.

Since Vollenda celebrated Noodle Day last week, Kwanon wanted to celebrate National Pasta Day today. This isn't Italian pasta or even Chinese noodles. Kwanon ordered from a Greek restaurant. There are so many ways to eat (and photograph) pasta noodles!

To celebrate National Flashlight Day – which conveniently falls on the shortest day of the year, the Winter Solstice – and Crossword Puzzle Day, the anniversary of the first published crossword puzzle game in 1913, Vollenda saw no better way than to do a crossword puzzle in bed with only the light that of her flashlight. This gave her an idea for tomorrow's image...

Vollenda's body was still sweating tonight after a day of excessive heat. When she saw it was still 91ºF going on 7 o'clock, the Camera concluded she could not tolerate going back outside in the extreme temperatures, even to take Photo of the Day. After all, she is still recovering from her repairs last week, and her shutter speed is not yet back up to par.

Being the ice cream lover, Kwanon photographed an ice cream sandwich before he ate it today in honor of National Ice Cream Day. But then, Vollenda took a picture she liked for Photo of the Day.
