As the Falling Water River passes through a park in Putnam County, Tennessee, the river lives up to its name. Within a short distance, the river drops over three falls within Burgess Falls State Park. This falls, seen in winter, is known as the Middle Falls of the three. Just downstream is the highest falls, where the river empties into 60-mile-long (96km) Center Hill Lake.

184/365: A day out to Elk Island with Monique and her husband who very kindly acted as chauffeur. We saw a bison strolling along the middle of the road...so exciting to see such an amazing creature. I did get some shots but they aren't amazing. May post one at some point but they are more record shots than anything.

We saw this Sikh temple on our way back though and liked the look of it against the sky...we had a fair bit of rain. Note the bird on top.

Thanks for a fabulous time Monique, it was such fun!

It has been pointed out that my dates do not correspond with the correct day of the 365. I didn't change my time/date on my camera as I just know I will forget to change it back when I get home. So I hope this is all acceptable for the 365 challenge. I am not always able to post on time so it's confusing. I am pretty sure I haven't missed a day out though.

October 7, 2016: If you can get to the White Mountains now, I highly recommend the Littleton to Mt. Washington Hotel (Zealand Notch) area. The colors are spectacular this year with vibrant reds.

This is a view from the summit of North Sugarloaf with a view of Middle Sugarloaf, and you can easily hike both in one go. The Sugarloafs are a true moderate hike (easy if you are in shape, difficult but doable if you are out of shape) with great views from their summits.

Grazie Cate......

We pulled over so I could photograph the windmill. Then I took a few steps to see a small village down the valley. The view was spectacular!

This bench was in the middle of nowhere and it caught my attention.

HBM!

Bulb long exposure taken at sunset this past winter. Looking forward to more of these skies along the river and maybe some shots with a little snow too ;)

The Railway between Carlisle and Newcastle crosses the water (River Gelt) and ravine by a grand bridge of three arches, about eighty feet in height, springing from rustic sandstone piers, which harmonise with the scenery in the most effective manner.

Being in "The Middle of Nowhere" applies very well to one bold enough to shoot along the former C&O's Mountain Sub as it drops through the Pads Creek Valley from Millboro to Griffith, Va. Over the last few years, this area has been of great interest to me, and on this December day I decided to shoot the Westbound Cardinal at the 1946-bypassed Mason's Tunnel a couple miles west of Millboro.

Middle clouds, such as Altostratus or Altocumulus, cause light to scatter differently, causing the sunset to turn a more intense orange or red. Sometimes it seems that the sky is lit, receiving the name of lamp.
