The previous weeks' escapades with microscale spacecraft left me itching for something more substantial...and something more asymmetrical. A bit of the inspiration for this probably stems from David Simon's Niobe, but I think I mostly just wanted to expand on last week's cockpit section.

On a separate note related only by the fact that I was listening to the audiobooks while building: what do people have to say about the Ender's Game sequels and prequels? I enjoyed the first half of Xenocide enormously, but toward the end it reached a level of metaphysical weirdness I don't know if I can put up with much more. For any other science nerds out there: is Children of the Mind actually worthwhile? I can deal with the suspension of disbelief that deals with philotic communication, but the whole "children" part just seems like stupid philosophical drivel. Your opinions?

Unable to abandon Mr Card's narrative completely, I moved to the new prequel trilogy and built this MOC mostly while listening to Earth Unaware. Thus far it is enjoyable, relatively believable, and, in contrast to the later Ender books, a bit more grounded in known physics. The one criticism I have is his justification for forcing the human ships to slow or even "stop" in order to spacewalk or dock.

At this scale, anything starts to look quite amazing :)

A black micro skater skirt. The skirt is made from a lightweight cotton and so really benefits from being worn over a multi-layered micro petticoat. :-)

Micro Freemaker Adventures. Probably most of you have no idea what this is, if so check out “flight of the arrowhead” on YouTube, you’ll probably like it! Here are the Arrowhead, Star Scavenger (including Mini Scavenger), Tracker 1 and Eclipse Starfighter. Free instructions this time, they’re all cheap to make, enjoy! rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-67909/ron_mcphatty/micro-freemak...

There is no sense crying over every mistake, we'll just keep on trying 'til we run out of cake.

Purists beware, to make the eyes of the turrets I used a sharp knife to cut off thin slices from the bar end of a red rubber spike (part 64727).

If you've been following my Hibiscus photographs you knew that super-micros of same could not be far behind! :)

These are the highly magnified stigma of a Hibiscus flower with a different focal point showing the tiny hairs.

More to come!

(Click on the photo below to view it large and then look for the note; the note I've placed on it shows the portion of the bloom I've photographed as a super-micro. Look for the note for "Hibiscus Super-Micro -- IIII.)

The Tantive IV was the last and biggest ship on my micro scale to-do list. Its close to the size of set 75244 but I’ve aimed to give it a lot more detail and accuracy. I've done my best to make sure each hull section is the right size and proportions with as much detail as possible.

The modular hull sections are connected to an internal Technic frame. The ship is strong, pretty easy to pick up (as long as you avoid those fins) and rests firmly on a small stand which can easily be made taller or a different colour. Inside the Technic frame is the ship interior and crew! The two roof sections can be removed to reveal the main corridor which connects the cockpit to the docking bays near the engines. The upper deck also comes off to show a central conference room with engineering corridors and removable escape pods either side. The 4-stud high crew and interior features aren’t to scale sadly, but hopefully they stand out as a nice extra feature for the ship!

This was by far the biggest and heaviest moc I’ve attempted so far, it was a new challenge for me but I really enjoyed the process. I’ve put instructions for this and the Liberator colour scheme on Rebrickable (link below), and thrown in the Millennium Falcon, Ghost and plenty of Rebel Starfighters in the hope that someone likes it enough to make a little Rebel fleet :)

The stack of brick with either 3 or 5 studs can be used with one dot (1x1 round plate) on either side, By placing two of the 2xn plates on alternate sides and twisting, it allows a tight and clean connection,

It the happens that a cheese slope fits in the top cleanly (as can be seen in the insert)

In moving the collection out of the cramped attic room it was in and into a better space, a lot of WIPs, scraps, and loose random bits got swept into a box to be dealt with later. Later turned out to be today, when in the process of trying to build something I needed a part I know I have several of but could not find anywhere. Maybe they were rattling around in that box?

They were not. I still have no idea where the hell those pieces are. But I did unearth some tablescraps that were complete and interesting(?) enough to dust off and take some pictures of.

I still like the three on the bottom and may find a use for them in some future scene, but the two pieces of crap up top are slated for immediate demolition.

My friend Felix challenged me to build a micro scale steam locomotive. I was surprised to realize how the new pieces introduced in last couple years advanced the possibilities of micro scale design. I am quite satisfied with the result :D

As an exercise I made the building instructions, which you can get on Rebrickable!

My first Micro-Space creations, the space Pirates.

Built at about the same time as Tekka Croe made his, it just took me a while to get mine posted.

Here is my recent micro Millennium Falcon. I am very happy with how it turned out.

This year, for Novvember's Vic Viper, I decided to go old school and do a VV that looked more like the one from the game. It's done in micro scale for a very specific reason. It's piloted by a trophy! It's another trophy scale build.

Here is my entry into the Marchitecture contest. Since the Saskatchewan LUG is hosting this contest (and I happen to live in Saskatchewan) I decided to build one of the common buildings of this Province. In almost every town there is a Grain Elevator. These are used to store the wheat until it is shipped out on trains. I decided to add a little scenery with the combine and semi in this build. Here is a picture of the real thing www.google.ca/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&so... This is in the City Skyline category.

Love this micro pleated number to bits; matching heels and bag enhance the look.

Hello all, today I have a few micro castles I made a little while ago, based in my fantasy world, Rivél.

Sorry about the background (or lack there of), but they're quite fragile (most parts are not even connected) and I didn't feel like resetting them.

Here's some info on the builds:

The Floating City: The city of Avalon (also known as the floating city) is home to elf royalty. The majority of the elf species lives atop this spire of rock, with a few other civilizations speckled around it. The city is only accessible by dragon and the elves don’t like many visitors so humans only visit in the most dire of times.

The fortress of Thehthyr: The only original settlement remaining after "The Ravaging", this castle was once owned by the dark elves, but now it houses all humans and elves who had not been enslaved by the shadow army, with only exception being the Wanderers.

My micro GARC collection. Hopefully, if shipping all goes well, these will end up Brickworld! All the best with the race everyone, and may the best GARC win!

have fun with the swooshing Simon!

Hemimycena tortuosa (~2mm size). With typical spirally twisted cells (cystidia) visible here on the border of the cap and on the stipe.

My entry for FBTB "Palpatine’s Shrink-O-Matic Ray Contest".

It's a storm of swords as three allied nations of Illarium, Navellos, and Plaxiom, battle it out with four other nations who are invading their realm.

Apart of the 2012 MocOlympics.

Trying to get the scale right on my greebling.

I'm trying to make a pair of control tower/room/building and an antenna station/building/complex in different scales to find the right scale.

Made a while back, beter pics will come
