Built in 1914, and abandoned in 1988, Ford Motor Company acquired Michigan Central Station from private owners in June 2018. The restored station opened to the public in June 2024, and includes office space, retail, and future hotel and hospitality space. The first floor remains open to the public.

A cool crisp night in Northern Michigan lends itself to perfect Milky Way viewing. You can even see some green air-glow in the photo. This is a 3 shot pano stitched together.

-Sunrise at Lake Michigan, this picture was difficult because you know how dirty the plane windows can get, from inside and out. You are looking at the Sun reflex over the lake not at the Sun.

-Amanecer en Lago Michigan, esta foto fué difícil de tomar, ya sabes lo sucio que pueden estar los vidrios de un avión por dentro y fuera. Estás viendo el reflejo del Sol sobre el lago, no al Sol.

Beautiful Michigan sunset. Taken with Iphone XR.

Lake Michigan, Michigan City, Indiana

I picked this up at the shore of Lake Michigan quite a few years ago. I have my lake glass collection in a jar and while looking for something 'Macro' to practice with, I thought of it.

I used glass from a picture frame to set it on and lit it slightly from underneath and to the side.

It took several shots and tries to find one I liked.

This is smaller than a pencil eraser.

:)

I was happy with it.

"What is it to actually go outside the nest

we have built for ourselves, and earlier

our father's nest: to go into a forest

alone with our eyes open? It's different

when you don't know what's over the hill --

keep the river on your left, then you see

the river on your right. I have simply

forgotten left and right, even up and down,

whirl then sleep on a cloudy day to forget

direction. It is hard to learn how

to be lost after so much training."

...to Lake Huron

I am heading up north this weekend for a wedding on Lake Huron in Duluth, Minnesota. Hey der ya. At least that is how a guy from Chicago thinks they talk up there in 'sota.

Seeing as how Huron and Michigan are both Great Lakes, both in the north Midwest United States and I will be on the west side looking east............I am guessing my pictures of Huron will look suspiciously like all of my pictures from Lake Michigan.

In either case, I am not posting for the next couple of days. Please keep the panic and mayhem under control. Rather write a loved one or call a friend with this outrageous news. Or read a book and take a nap.

Enjoy your weekend my friend. Much peace, love and happiness to you.
