Reminants of the Milwaukee Road can be found all around the Upper Peninsula, as MILW 22 sits between moves at Channing, Michigan.
Michigan has been a Sea, had volcanic activity and glacial activity. We're left with great examples of sedimentary, metamorphic and semi metamorphic rocks. If you zoom in you'll see quarts, rhodochrosite, olivine and feldspar.
Lake Michigan shoreline near Onekama, MI - I think this captures the essence of what the Michigan shoreline is about -- the miles of publicly accessible shoreline, gentle dunes, the dune grass, and the footprints of those that were there earlier in the day.

We made a trip up north to take a Shepler's lighthouse cruise to off shore lighthouses in northern Lake Michigan.
Had a wonderful time with family in Michigan. The weather did not cooperate for us rain, wind and cold most of the time. This bald eagle and some swans were the only wildlife we saw.

The quaint bridge in Portland, Michigan passes over the Grand River. Portland is known as the city of two rivers; they are the Looking Glass River and the Grand River. This bridge is one of the largest (as a two-span example) and most complete examples of a rather ornate bridge plan/design that Groton Bridge and Manufacturing Company of Groton, NY built that remain today. As such it is significant on a national level as a key example of the work of an important bridge company. The bridge has been listed as a Michigan Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.
This bridge is a two-span pin connected Pratt through truss.
