Another new scan re-do we find a northbound Michigan Northern freight rolling over M-131 just south of Fife Lake, Michigan with RS3 1553 leading RS2 1501. A Michigan Department of Natural Resources truck rolls south with a 2 year old Bi-Centenial license plate up front - November 8, 1978.
This species was high on the want list for me this trip to the upper peninsula. It can be found in the lower peninsula but not at the sites I visit there. I encountered a bunch of these singing away. The song is so much different than the similar appearing L0uisiana Waterthrush as is the breeding habitat. It was a lot of fun to spend some time with this species.

Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them;
let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.

I make a mixture of mealworms, peanutbutter and chopped raisins for the bluebirds. Here he is about to get some.
You know I am not a fan of over-saturation so I will tell you that this bright blue is right out of the camera. I guess you could say he is in his breeding colors.

Lake Michigan shoreline close to the town of Empire with the Robert H. Manning Memorial Lighthouse in the distance. Another photograph from my “Missing Michigan” series taken May 2019. Talk about a hidden gem. I can’t get enough of that emerald green water!
It’s a frigid afternoon along the shores of Lake Michigan as CSS&SB No.801 leads a westbound freight through the neighborhood of East 11th Street. 1/22/72

I came inside to change my camera battery becasue it was down to 10%. I don't want to start taking photos and run out of power! I walked over to my hummingbird garden area to see if I might get a shot of the wrens and much to my surprise this indigo bunting flew through.

I got an external back-up hard drive (on sale at Costco) and put all my photos on it. Now, I've deleted most of them from my computer and have freed up over 300 GB of space! Yea.
This lighthouse is located at the end of the break wall at McLain State Park, nine miles north of Hancock, Michigan in the Upper Penninsula. The 50' square steel tower was built in 1950. Little commercial traffic passes through the Keweenaw Waterway these days as the modern Great Lakes freighters are too large, but pleasure craft and an occasional excursion vessel still use the historic passage.
How true...
Seen while driving from Plymouth, MI to London, ON on Interstate 94, near exit 240A, north direction.

From the Hoffmaster campground there is a small dune for climbing. Make sure to climb the dune at sunset, you will get one of the most amazing views of all Lake Michigan!

There Are Moments in Life
The words just don’t seem to describe
What my eyes see
I’ve tried writing words in poetry
But that can’t capture
Emotions and feelings of the wonder
It’s like being at a concert with a favorite band
Telling about people about the music
And watching them not understand
There are times when I have heard only silence when outside
A different form of music
Still no understanding
So I will capture images, write poetry, and tell others
Until I find others who not just smile but also recognize
Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one morning at Bond Falls Scenic Site in Michigan. This setting extends to the south with a waterfall of the Middle Branch Ontonagon River. In composing this image I wanted to capture a look to the waterfall with a long exposure to bring out more of a silky look with the waters. I used an H&Y RevoRing MarkII to make that exposure adjustment I wanted.
I chose to work with Aurora HDR Pro to better bring that complete color setting in the image. I later exported a TIFF image to DxO PhotoLab 9 where I did some final adjustments with contrast, saturation and brightness for the final image.
The Michigan State Capitol, built in 1872, is a Neoclassical Design (Italianate/Renaissance Revival). The architect was Elijah E. Myers.
There is heavy construction underway (2019) to upgrade the utility systems, making them more efficient with a "green design".
