The aptly named Metallic Starling. From a distance, its plumage may appear a simple black, but when it catches the light, its feathers shimmer with an iridescent sheen of vibrant greens, purples, & blues. This brilliant display is made even more striking by the bird's piercing, fiery red eye.

A little tighter shot of one I posted several days ago. I was amazed and fascinated by the colors produced as the sun played across the water.
With shimmering cylinders and murky shadows, westbound Buckingham Branch empty grain train G764-03 rolls effortlessly through the rural countryside, the sun setting steadily to its side as they both make their way towards the western horizon on the afternoon of February 6, 2022, outside Craigsville, VA.
Metallic looking design blended with a blue one to create my image ..... geometric too
Big thanks for having a look at this one .... very grateful ..... best bigger & hope you have a Brilliant Day

The "wing" of a bee from the family Xylocopa. It's really amazing that the normally brown wing becomes blue in the diffuse light. This is the second photo of the my new "Wing Series".

I adopted a slightly different approach to this image by standing in the water and capturing the scene looking towards the shore.
Flynn's Beach newest mural (courtesy Joel Moore aka 'Mulga’) is seen reflecting on the sand as is headlights from a vehicle which was parked.

Not only are these plastic egg cups a design from the DDR, but the Meyer Optik Görlitz Diaplan 2.8/80 projector lens producing that bubble bokeh is from the former East Germany too. Entire scene is about 6cm across.
To make that bubbly background, a metallic pan scourer is illuminated by a mobile phone torch and I'm hand-holding a UK 10 pence coin (about the size of a US quarter) to give the impression of a full moon. Diaplan lens mounted to the camera with a home-made and 3D-printed adaptor.
Adjustment of levels in PP, with a bit of masking to get the best balance between two shots.
