Strobist details: A 285HV into a gridded stripbox with the outer diffuser removed on each side of the model. The left side one has a purple gel. Both of them triggered by a Phottix Ares.

Portland, OR • My attempt to capture a cool RV/Bus/Trailer thing in fading light.
I am still learning how to capture sunsets/light source and the foreground subject correctly, so I used a gradient filter to cut the light exposure back in the sky. I also had to stack some of the color back in to get the richness of the actual sunset color during the shot. Not sure if the correct terminology or process, but it is all experimental for me.

Well, with some new sets Lego re-released silver metallic. I got my hand on some of the new parts (seen on the left). On the right you can see old parts. I can't see any difference, clutch power does seem to be quite tight with both versions. Scratches are much more striking than with normal part though :/
The Metallic Starling, Aplonis metallica, also known as Shining Starling, is a bird in the starling family. It is native of New Guinea and nearby Australasian islands, and a limited area of northeastern Australia.
The adult has brilliant red eyes, a long tail and green-glossed black plumage. Immatures are pale below with dark streaks. Such birds migrate during August[1] to the northern regions of Queensland, where they mate, preparing messy globular nests for their young which hang from tall trees.[2] There they remain until April,[1] where upon they make their return journey to New Guinea.

What is this? Hmmm. Well, if I told you, I'm not sure it would help (it's a metallic art structure at a park...). A friend of mine says, "hey, you should take a picture of that thing." I'm thinking, "eh..." But, I guess it all depends on your perspective. Sure glad I went ahead a got a few shots off.

Once I really started focussing on these flies in the garden and researching them, I was surprised to find how many are in this particular sub-species.
They are Dolichopodid Flies and once I saw them in detail I found there are various types each with a variety of bright metallic colour combinations. This one is a Large Green Long Legged Fly and as they eat smaller prey like aphids they are a bonus to have in the garden.

I even have more metallic floss than is shown in this picture. I bought a huge lot via eBay, but the downside is there are many many duplicate colors.
Sort of need to do huge projects using red, green, or gold floss. Christmas?
For the review I'm doing of my collection of metallic OD green BA, presented by my "purist" Colonial Marines. This is a special non-production color that was part of the metallics test run that resulted in the selection of cobalt as a new color.
