Some photographer's metadata: I had followed this limpkin as she walked down the trail with her two fuzz-ball chicks trailing her. She eventually veered into the shrubbery with the chicks right behind her. But in a matter of seconds she had emerged at the top of this nearby bush and given me this pose. Photo taken at Circle B Bar Reserve, a wetland reserve near Lakeland, Florida, USA.

The Limpkin (Aramus guarauna) gets little credit for the beauty it adds to the marshes and swamps of Florida. It measures about 26-inches (66 cm) from beak-tip to tail-tip and has a piercing, repeated wail or song that often disturbs the peaceful atmosphere of the marsh. But I have learned to love their song anyhow because . . .

"A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song." - Chinese Proverb

"Use what talents you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best." - Henry Van Dyke (1852-1933)

"I once had a sparrow alight upon my shoulder for a moment, while I was hoeing in a village garden, and I felt that I was more distinguished by that circumstance than I should have been by any epaulet I could have worn." - Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862)

"There is nothing in which the birds differ more from man than the way in which they can build and yet leave a landscape as it was before." - Robert Lind (1879-1949)

"I realize that if I had to choose I would rather have birds than airplanes." - Charles Lindbergh (1902-1974)

"God loved the birds and invented trees. Man loved the birds and invented cages." - Jacques Deval (1745-1794)

"I hope you love birds too. It is economical. It saves going to heaven." - Emily Dickinson (1830-1886)

Puck is a young RR who belongs to a friend.

Photographer's metadata: We were driving through the Anza-Borrego Desert near Borrego Springs, California, when we passed this group of mailboxes hunkered down in the shade of a tree. As we passed it, I only caught a brief glimpse of the scene, not a sharp framed mental image. I turned my car around and headed back to see if it was worth taking a photograph. The photograph shows them in their effort to seek refuge from the relentless heat . . . my 'post-camera image management technique' has allowed me to present it as I first saw it at a glimpse. (FA)

Design gone mad. A business community space to ruin business clothes. People get paid to create this nonsense, or am I being unfair?

Rhett is 5 now and still a flying ace. I attribute it to good food and working out in the sand at the beach several times a week.

Empty parking lot with lots of light. Have a look at the light patterns. Front side is very uniform, rear side of the light pole is more like triangles in triangles. If you know the name of the shadow pattern please let me know.

I really like the look of the water on the sand...it appears icy reflecting Rhett.

It seems that the persistent drought is coming to an end, at least for now.

A row of several low pressure systems, coming from the Atlantic Ocean from the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula, are irrigating a good part of Spain and Portugal with generous rain.

In some places, the intensity of the rain has caused various havoc and damage.

As the Spanish saying goes: "It never rains to everyone's taste", ("Nunca llueve a gusto de todos").

Photo taken in Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid, Spain.

White Point Beach

Reprocessed: 09/02/23

Photo taken in March 2019. I was sort of amazed to find that as late as 2019 I wasn't adding a 'signature' to all my processed and posted images. Now I not only add a signature to each image, but add copyright information, title, place and date to the metadata.

This new "version" has selective sharpening and denoising. I also straightened the horizon. (The original image looked straight, but this is really straight.)

The original had a lot of dust or dirt circles in the corners. I have my camera sensor professionally cleaned every year now, but the EOS80D had gone 3 years without it. This version has been cleaned up. Instead of using the clone tool which I have always used for this, I actually put AI to use with the remove tool, setting the circle to match the dirt circle. It worked beautifully.

This one was a surprise and quite humorous. Joe is very clever and my dear true heart.

Sent from Bill's iPad.

Just poked the camera at the glass window, had to avoid some reflections in the glass, you can see these in the right hand side marked with a little blue sky.. The light there was extensive so I had to shield that area with my hand around the G12 lens hood, I will load that later as a comparison, when I get back onto the PC..

Flickr, photo-sharing Web site owned by SmugMug and headquartered in San Francisco, California.

Flickr is an ad-supported service, free to the general public, that allows users to upload digital photographs from their own computers and share them online with either private groups or the world at large. In the early 2000s it won a fast-growing contingent of enthusiasts on the strength of its many social-networking features, most significantly the ability for users to discuss photographs online.

The service began as a peripheral feature in an online electronic game being developed by the Canadian software company Ludicorp. Company founders (and spouses) Stewart Butterfield and Caterina Fake ultimately abandoned the game and debuted Flickr by itself in 2004. Its key early innovation was the use of “free tagging,” a feature that enabled users to associate metadata tags—searchable keywords—of their own devising with any photographs they viewed, thus creating a large network of associations and allowing users around the world to discover each other’s work. By developing an unregulated but expansive “folksonomy,” Flickr spared itself the prohibitive cost of centrally creating links and groupings.

In March 2005 Flickr was purchased by the Internet giant Yahoo! and relocated to California. Under the Yahoo! banner, Flickr became a dominant photo-sharing service, increasing its roster of registered users from 250,000 to more than 2,000,000 in less than a year. The site continued rolling out new features, including copyright management, an interactive map of photographed locations, and customizable print products. In June 2008 Butterfield and Fake left Yahoo!, and Flickr continued to expand. In July 2008 Getty Images, one of the world’s largest photographic agencies, announced a plan to begin inviting selected Flickr members to participate in one of its commercial photo groups. Flickr was supplanted as the dominant photo-sharing service by social media companies such as Facebook and Instagram, and it also faced competition from other services that offered inexpensive online data storage. In 2017 the American telecommunications company Verizon Communications acquired Yahoo! and reorganized it into a subsidiary, Oath, and the next year SmugMug acquired Flickr from Oath.

Why data is more reliable than metadata.

In this particular case the metadata is also invisible from the publisher's perspective (similar to meta tags hidden away in the head of a template in a CMS), thus when the content is updated, it inevitably gets out of sync with the metadata.

This is not a picture taken by me. I wish it was but unfortunately, it is not. I suppose the reasons for posting this is, number 1 - It’s a great scene and number 2 - It represents an example (for me anyway), that I am hopefully, finally getting back the many filters that I lost when I had to have my computer re-built and the long arduous task of retrieving and rebuilding the “tons” of data, files, folders and applications that were “supposed” to have been reliably backed up using Apple’s “Time Machine” application………which in my opinion is not worth a damn!

It should be noted that I would gladly provide attribution to the original photographer if I knew who that was. Unfortunately the file metadata does not indicate any source identity.

The Car

Well it’s obvious to classic car enthusiasts this is a Packard but in my efforts to make a positive ID of the car, I came up with these possibles:

1937 Packard 1507 Twelve Sport Phaeton by Dietrich

1936-Packard-Super-Eight-1404-Dual-Cowl-Sport-Phaeton

Identified by Vince Montalbano as:

1935 Packard Twelve Dietrich Dual Cowl Phaeton

1935 Packard Twelve Dual Cowl Sport Phaeton

I am concentrating my attention on the configuration on the hood vents which seem to be a “Dietrich styling” but then again, I’m not sure. Very possibly one of you Packard aficionados out there can make a positive identification.

Until next time, enjoy my friends……………..

I like all kind of photography. But friends like my macro shots, that is why they fave it too much. This image is kind of creative. It is Sigma 50mm 1.4 Art lens. The ISO is 50 and the F number is 1.6 and shutter speed of 1/200. You can copy this image Metadata, if you want an image with very shallow depth of field. I don’t expect too much faves for this image but still I want to post it. Have a good day!

I believe this is a turtle or tortoise work at Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, Florida, USA.

Photographer's metadata: Anyone visiting central Florida for things such as Disneyworld should take a day off and visit this wonderful botanical garden. When we visited this location we were told not to miss the new children's area. So, it was the first place we headed. And, as we entered, I noticed this mosaic in the sidewalk right at the gate. After everyone had entered (we photographers dislike clogging up walkways), I took the time to get this shot of some great workmanship. Notice the various color in the different stones. After getting the photograph onto my computer, I realized that I could have achieved more shadow had I stood about 4 or 5 o'clock in this frame . . . oh, well!
