Two common symbols in medieval churches combined, both related to fertility and the fruitfulness of the earth, although they are often represented in complex and ambiguous images. The Green Man depicted here hardly appears benign, showing a mouthful of teeth in addition to his rather wild-eyed expression. The Mermen bear clubs and could be engaged in battle with one another, but not, I think, necessarily so, Note that their shields resemble flowers, and there are objects or matter issuing from their heads that differ: the one on the right is "wave-like," while that on the left is more easily read as "foliate." [See the other Green Man/Merman bench end in this group(www.flickr.com/photos/hunky_punk/7973944930), and note, also, the scale-like cap that "connects" the Green Man to the Merman in each carving.]
Here’s my hand sculpted ball jointed mermaid Allan doll sculpted from polymer clay called living doll. What started out as an experiment in making clay molds of vintage dolls ended up in a very lengthy sculpting project in seeing if I can make a 1/6th scale merman with a jointed tail.
Lol my grasp on human anatomy is a bit awful, but I like to think for my first fully jointed BJD I did a pretty decent job. Doing this definitely helped me work out a lot of questions I had with sculpting a bjd from scratch including how to make a decent jointing system.
I won’t make this body available to purchase since if I did I would need to refine the heck out of this body before committing to have him cast and potentially deal with a lot of money which isnt something I can commit to yet.
I debated whether or not I should add extra paint detail to this tail but after my Galaxy Centaur custom, I realised too much paint detail would just make me handle this doll less lol.
I’m also really happy I got to do a sleeping face up since I’ve been wanting to do more but haven’t found the right doll to do so. I’ve also body blushed him but I guess it’s super subtle cuz photos don’t really showcase it.
Anyway, I know he’s not perfect but for my first bjd sculpt I’m pretty happy with him lol.
Sometimes getting up for first light is worth it! I'm humbled to have been involved with such an amazing team and creative project.

Such a beautiful sunny day today, played in the pool until we grew scales and fins ;) while we tried out our new little underwater camera in the pool. We hope to head to the Florida Keys sometime soon to do some snorkeling and get snaps of the gorgeous fishes at the reef. Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

The oppidum of the Celtic Alobroges became a Roman colony about 47 BC under Julius Caesar, but the Allobroges managed to expel the Romans. The exiles moved north and founded the colony of Lugdunum (today's Lyon). During the early Empire, Vienna regained all its former privileges as a Roman colony. The city flourished and became the second capital of southern Gaul during the Roman Empire.
The first Christians lived in Vienne around 100 AD. In the 3rd century, the city became a bishopric. After the death of the childless last Burgundian king Rudolf III. Vienne fell in 1032 to the German king Conrad II and thus to the Holy Roman Empire. In the 12th century, Vienne became the capital of the Dauphiné. In the 15th and 16th centuries, Vienne experienced an economic boom, numerous houses were built in the half-timbered style of the time, and the cathedral was completed. During the Wars of Religion, the city was fought over and frequently looted.
The Diocese of Vienna existed from the third century until the "Concordat of 1801" between Napoleon Bonaparte and Pius VII. Since then it has been part of the Archdiocese of Lyon.
In 1311/1312 the "Council of Vienne" took place here. Pope Clement V, who was bullied by Philip IV of France, withdrew papal support for the Knights Templar - and dissolved the order.
The construction of St. Maurice Cathedral, which took more than 400 years, began in the 12th century. The choir was rebuilt in the 13th century. In the Gothic period, four bays were added and the nave was raised and arched.
There are 59 (!) Romanesque capitals in St. Maurice Cathedral, carved in the late 12th century.

yeaaaah! it worked! I watched a youtube-video about the codes on top of the packing and checked in my local supermarket (which had a sale of the color reveal dolls, too!!!). And yes, the code worked! Happy-happy! he' so cute, with dimples and all! But unfortunately he can only move his arms & head... this obviously calls for a new body ;-) and perhaps I'll do a little face-up, too.
