A timer in the kitchen is essential when cooking or baking a number of dishes.
I like the light this timer gives off when it is timing
I specifically tried to capture minutes and seconds that are the first two numbers in an arithmetic series, e.g. 6, 12, 18, 24, ... n x 6...
Not part of the challenge, just fun for me.

This is my photo for the Macro Mondays challenge - "Found in the Kitchen"
It is also my photo for the 52 in 2017 challenge - #19 - kitchen.
This is a macro of my new coffee cup. I bought the first one when we were in the UK recently and we bought way too much stuff and decided to send some things home by post. When my parcel arrived, it was squashed with holes in the sides and of course all my fragile items were shattered. Our postal service is known for not being gentle with parcels, so I am guessing it was done here and I was paid some compensation from them. I searched on the internet and found the same cup on Ebay, so of course, I had to have it. As you know, I really love Highland Cattle and always search them out when we are in the UK.

Thanks to all for your views, faves, and comments!
So many options for photos in the kitchen, I love to cook and bake, eventually settled on mixed peppers ground fresh!
Tomato and garlic are from my garden. Probably last ones this year. Plate is from grandma’s kitchen and at least 70 years old
Even though our children are way too old for these we've still got loads of these "curly straws" in a kitchen drawer.

MM Member's Choice - Found In The Kitchen - my indispensable measuring spoons. I'm a keen cook and baker and these are never far from the kitchen bench
I shot 4 photos for this week's theme (and could have done a few more if I didn't have other projects to tackle). Was somewhat torn for choice... but I think this had the "edge"... ;-)
First shots with my brand new Oshiro 60mm f/2.8 2:1 SUPER Macro Lens (ALL MANUAL, hence no lens exif info) which came today...
Interesting lens...
Am looking forward to putting it through its paces in the coming days, weeks and months... :-)

Member's Choice - Found In The Kitchen
I found this pastry wheel in the very deep of my drawer. Didn't know that I owned it. I think it's time to take notice of it and do some baking where it will be used :-) HMM
Beside the scene:
Pepper Grinder.
The Macro Mondays theme Found in the Kitchen offers so much opportunity it was a bit difficult to know where to start. But that always makes it more fun. It’ll be interesting to see where the challenge has taken other folk..
So this is the base of a pepper grinder which must be at least 40 years old (it used to be my mother’s). We still use it today. A good pepper grinder that grinds consistently is a rare thing, so when we find one we tend to hang on to it. We have several and this one grinds very finely.
I love pepper; it's my favourite condiment. I tend to add it to most meals except for salads, hence the title. Pepper adds a piquant edge to the flavour of food particularly for steamed vegetables.
As usual my first idea for an image for the theme was a resounding failure. And the second... But this attempt was better. I liked the geometry, colour and texture and thought it would make an interesting macro, so here we have it.
I captured this image in the kitchen in the spirit of the challenge. Luckily the room has bright tungsten spotlights: strong lighting if you can control the reflections.
I've discovered that the botanic name for pepper is Piper Nigrum? which explains a lot about the Peter Piper tongue twister and the brand name for this pepper pot (Peter Piper Pepper Pot). So once again the pursuit of photographic excellence (cough) has had the unlooked-for side effect of education!
Anyway I hope you enjoy the image. Thank you for taking time to look! HMM
[Tripod mount with timer release; VR off. Processed first in LR for contrast and clarity, and cropped to get a strong diagonal and circle. Then into Affinity Photo for curves tweaking, more clarity and a bit of colour adjustment to strengthen the browns; sharpened strongly in Topaz Detail. I tried a vignette but it didn’t add anything.]
Happy Macro Mondays :)

October 1, 2017
This is the time of year, with an excess of fresh local tomatoes, peaches, apples and all kinds of other fruits and veggies sitting out on the counter, these little pests are always found in the kitchen!"
Of course once I started trying to attract them to my apple-vinegar staged setup, they were all but non-existent!!

This was a fun challenge! Exploring the kitchen, I wanted to show details in something we use almost daily... our juicer. We purchased our juicer secondhand this summer and have enjoyed trying different juicing recipes. Having watched Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead several years ago, we were intrigued by the health benefits of juicing. We aren't disciplined enough to do a long juice cleanse, but we did try it for three days. Now, we regularly juice in the morning... apples, carrots, and ginger... and it's a great way to start our day. Though the spikes in the mesh filter basket are tiny, they are powerful.
Since I'm quite new to the group I just chose a theme from the list which I didn't participate in: Member's Choice: Found in the Kitchen
This is my first post of a photo made with my Marumi +5 DHG macro filter mounted on my 55-210 lens. Fully zoomed in it is possible to reach more than 1:1 but for this shot I kept a little bit more distance. I didn't crop.
And yes, I know this is my second post with fire but no, I'm not a pyromaniac ;).
