Pulling a bunch of new wave and thinking out loud. I *love* this album.

Rising From The Ashes

« Rising From The Ashes » is the Monthly Release for January 2020.

a restless instrumental that evolved from an unusual chord progression i stumbled upon while noodling on the nylon guitar.

it evokes the indomitable loving energy that animates all that is alive, and which seemingly never stops surging and thriving onward even when the unthinkable happens and demise appears unavoidable.

the artwork was inspired by photographs of signs of life returning after the Australian bushfires.

no picks were used during the making of this recording, which is a first for me for this type of composition. after a lifetime believing that it was necessary to use a pick to achieve a certain level of virtuosity on the electric guitar, I had an epiphany over the holidays. while discovering the works of Matteo Mancuso, it became obvious that this limitation was only conceptual and didn’t actually exist.

After an infamous 1975 Song from the Golden Earring. A one I like. For its mix of piano, synth and guitars... Much is the work of Robert Jan Stips and Eelco Geeling; both somehow "entering" the band with guitar and synths.

It is about connecting, come together, get together. Maybe not really in the way you like or wanted. Call it even outdated. Especially the warm light amp intro.... no problem

Connection is not easy. It is not natural.. Today we learn our kids to "do it" via the computer. Not via body and mouth. They kids dont know better, as we learned them.. But... ... well alll the girls and woman around... perhaps they all kill me slow.. ce stir.. Tonight Jolene, Suzanne and Yvette tried to do it somehow some way. as I turned surpringly in their DJ,.. confusing, as I did what no one expected or believed. Played 2 hours of own made music for an audience over 600 watt.t... Torn and Frayed , misschien.. Ik weet niet.. Maybe, I dont know.

Dutch

Verbinden. Deutsche well evenmin.

Inmiddels in pikke donker.

A small group of people will remember our first MIDI video about 10 months ago that needed a jailbroken iPhone. Well here is the real thing.

Filmed by iPod Touch, here are a few of the features of the Ella MIDI implementation - 3 voices at once (upper, lower and pads), all can be played concurrently if you have enough hands or somebody else around/on stage who can hit the pads. Programmable keyboard split for upper and lower, programmable chord pads if your keyboard supports it (and the Axiom 49 has 8 of them - mighty useful). Ella can be seen responding to controllers on the keyboard with on-screen information keeping you up to date, and controllers are used to change voices, volume, pitch, tone, reverb parameters, and level/pan for each of the upper, lower and pad instruments. Ellatron and the Lite Trons now all feature the same rich reverb unit first seen in M3000, and the MIDI Ellatron is going to hit the shops with a handful of the real Tron voices from M3000, albeit with the usual limitations - shorter loop times, major third sampling intervals etc. Mellotron purists, or indeed anyone who wants a real Tron will still want the M3000, but people who just want a handful of Tron sounds for occasionally spicing up a song will love the new Ella.

Plus the MIDI implementation is ultra-responsive, despite this being a debug build and having a dozen printfs per played note - printfs going over WiFi to the Mac, because you can't really printf with an attached dock accessory...

A bit more work to do on the user interface to de-stupid it (e.g. "What is" ... "This For?" on the left!), an upgrade to the saved/restored preferences file, and we will be ready to roll out for testing. If all goes well we should be good to go by early December.

Quote:

"I've been a Nord user for years, but they really have outdone themselves with the Stage 2. have to come up with complex sounds, complete with specifically tailored effects, layers, splits, parameter control assignments, etc., in seconds flat. The Stage 2 and the Electro 3 are great-sounding, quick and intuitive. The sounds, and the ability to sculpt them, are amazing. And I love turning knobs! It beats scrolling through menus any day of the week." - Andy Burton, keyboardist for John Mayer

Biography

Andrew"Andy" Burton is a keyboardist, vocalist and composer based in the New York City. He is currently on a world tour with John Mayer. As a musician, his major influences are: (on piano) Chopin, J.S. Bach, James Booker, James P. Johnson, Ray Charles, and Jerry Lee Lewis. On Hammond organ, his other specialty, Richard "Groove" Holmes, Jimmy Smith, Booker T., Hi Records' Charles Hodges, Benmont Tench of the Heartbreakers, Procol Harum's Matthew Fisher, and Jon Lord are among his heroes. He also owes substantial debts to Stevie Wonder, Billy Preston, and legendary session musicians Nicky Hopkins and Paul Griffin. He is equally at home using modern computer music production tools, vintage keyboard instruments from his collection such as a Mellotron (or his grandmother's 1941 Steinway grand piano), or wailing on an accordion when the situation dictates. His recording of the Frank Loesser classic Baby It’s Cold Outside with Rufus Wainwright and Sharon Van Etten will appear on Starbucks’ Hear Music Christmas compilation this December. Andy performed on rock legend Ian Hunter’s album When I’m President in 2012 as well as played on the 2012 Grammy-Nominated album Emotional Jukebox by Linda Chorney, (for Best Album - Americana category). A great example of his B-3 work can be found on the Retroliners’ 2012 release Lucifer’s Lounge, on Householder Records.

American singer born Charles Westover on 30th December 1934.

Sprang to fame in 1961 with his single "Runaway", a highly distinctive recording featuring his trademark falsetto. Accompanied by Max Crook, his keyboard player on 'Mellotron', they fashioned a new sound that gave Del a number one hit in both the USA and Great Britain.

Del, who described himself as a sort of 'Pop Rock 'n' Roller', was probably more popular in Britain & Australia than he was in his own country.

Sadly, Del passed away on 8th February 1990 of a self inflicted gunshot wound, aged 55.

The above album, Del's 5th, was released in 1965 on the "Stateside Label", a division of EMI and paid tribute to the legendary country singer Hank Williams.

Del recorded the album in a style befitting Hank and closely followed the original arrangements.

Although not a great seller in the UK, I think Del's fans were impressed with his efforts.

The Mellotron is a unique instrument from the 60's. Each tone is pre-recorded on tape and the tape is pulled, amplified and released by a string. Each tone can be held for 8 seconds, before you ran out of 'sample'.

Most famously used in the intro tune of Strawberry Fields. Only a handful of these are working in the Netherlands. This one is cared for and maintained by Reyn Ouwehand.

Il Balleto di Bronzo (translation: The Ballet of Bronze) was an Italian progressive rock band from Naples. They formed in the mid 1960s, and released two albums, Sirio 2222 and Ys, before disbanding in 1973.

Sirio 2222 (1970) is a psychedelic album originally released on RCA. Amongst fans of the genre it is generally considered a good album; the track Missione Sirio 2222 in particular is held in high regard. At this time, the band was Marco Cecioni (vocals, guitar), Lino Ajello (guitar), Michele Cupaiuolo (bass) and Giancarlo Stinga (drums).

In 1971 both Cecioni and Cupaiuolo left the band, replaced by Gianni Leone (vocals, keyboards) from the band Citta Frontale and Vito Manzari, (bass) formerly of Rome's Quelle Strane Cose Che. This line-up released Ys in 1971 on Polydor, a very innovative album, regarded as one of the finest examples of Italian symphonic rock.

Written by Leone, Ys is a concept album divided into four parts: Introduzione, Primo Incontro, Secondo Incontro and Terzo Incontro ed Epilogo. Beginning with an atmospheric organ and vocal intro and relentlessly mounting in intensity for the following 38 minutes, Ys is a narrative alluding to the legend of the mythical city of the same name. Stylistically the album moves through odd-metered fusion, progressive and psychedelic rock and avant-garde/free jazz leanings. Gianni Leone's keyboards and vocals dominate, though Ajello, Stinga and Manzari all deliver fine performances. Texturally the album is particularly rich, as it features Moog synthesizers, mellotrons, spinet, female voices and numerous stereo and tape effects. It's density and heavy use of dissonance have earned it a reputation as a difficult, if potentially rewarding, listen.

The band released several singles among them Neve Calda/Comincio Per Gioco, Si, Mama Mama/Meditazione and La Tua Casa Comoda/Donna Vittoria. Over the years, some rarities, including previously unreleased spanish language singles have surfaced.

Despite breaking up in the early 70s, Il Balletto di Bronzo continued to exert an influence, mostly on the strength of their second album. Several bands, amongst them Nurse With Wound, have cited them as an influence, and the album Ys has been reissued at different times in Italy, Korea and Japan.

In the late 90s Gianni Leone reformed the band as a trio, recording the live album Trys. As of this writing this incarnation of the band is still active as a live ensemble with a rotating roster, Leone being the sole constant.

This is Ford Lunis Mellotron.

He moved in on July 17th, 2009.

Ford Lunis Mellotron is named after:

Ford Prefect from hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy,

Lunis - the moon - because of his fur color and

Mellotron, after the nice vintage instrument.

I saved his live by adopting him. He came from a killing station in Spain.

He's about two years old.

Keyboard set up, December 1976, Kursaal, Sothend on Sea. I think the one in the middle is a Solina String Ensemble, it's a Korg something-or-other on the bottom and a Mini Moog on top. They were using a Mellotron in '76 but I think they'd given it up by this tour, no photo to tell me and I certainly can't remember!

Painting inspired by mellotron music which in turn, can sound to me like walking through a water garden on another planet or in some strange land.

Also, a mellotron, when played with a certain warble, can sound like half-organ, half-fountain with its watery sound.

This fountain does actually exist at the famous Villa de Este in Italy. I don't think you can actually play music on it, though.

Playing on Sunday afternoon in the Drill Hall Chepstow.

Ozzmosis is the seventh solo studio album by English heavy metal musician Ozzy Osbourne. Recorded in Paris and New York with producer Michael Beinhorn, it was released on 23 October 1995 by Epic Records. The album reached number 22 on the UK Albums Chart and number four on the US Billboard 200. "Perry Mason", "See You on the Other Side" and "I Just Want You" were released as singles.

After the release of his sixth album No More Tears in 1991, Osbourne announced that he would retire from music. However, he returned with Ozzmosis in 1995, which featured long-time guitarist Zakk Wylde as well as former Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler, drummer Deen Castronovo and keyboardist Rick Wakeman. The release received mixed reviews from critics.

Ozzmosis was one of many Osbourne albums remastered and reissued in 2002. The reissue featured bonus tracks "Whole World's Fallin' Down" and "Aimee", originally released as B-sides to "Perry Mason" and "See You on the Other Side", respectively. The album has been certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America and has sold over 3 million copies.
