Megalaima zeylanica
The Brown-headed Barbet is a resident breeder in India and Sri Lanka. It is an arboreal species of gardens and wooded country which eats fruit and insects. It nests in a tree hole, laying 2-4 eggs.
This is a relatively large barbet at 27 cm. It is a plump bird, with a short neck, large head and short tail. [Source: Wikipedia]
五色鳥（學名：Megalaima oorti）因其羽毛有五種顏色而得名。該鳥在中國大陸稱為「黑眉擬啄木鳥」。
身常約20～23公分，喙基上黑色嘴鬚發達，身體多為翠綠色，頭部大部份為藍色，額頭和喉部有黃色分佈，眼先和前頸有小部份紅色，眼部至耳羽上方則為黑色，粗厚嘴部為黑色，腳鉛灰色。叫聲單調而大聲，類似敲木魚「郭、郭郭郭郭……」，因而又被稱作「花和尚」。在繁殖時會啄樹洞築巢。
The coppersmith barbet, crimson-breasted barbet or coppersmith (Megalaima haemacephala), is a bird with crimson forehead and throat which is best known for its metronomic call that has been likened to a coppersmith striking metal with a hammer. It is a resident found in the Indian subcontinent and parts of Southeast Asia. Like other barbets, they chisel out a hole inside a tree to build their nest. They are mainly fruit eating but will take sometimes insects, especially winged termites.
Makes a loud call of Kor-r-r-kutroo, kutroo kutroo,,,,Throat goes up and down as it makes the call....

This is a famous nest with birders, but managed to shoot this with fewer people around at that time.
This adult was busy feeding its young with lots or berries
Was not too happy with my camera setting, should have pumped up my speed as my Sigma 300mm f2.8 should be able to keep up. 1/1600s was not fast enough!!

Resident at a tree very close to my home, he is the neighbour of that Sunda Pygmy Woodpecker, posted earlier.
This is the closest I ever get to the barbet
3/3 Calling back to my phone. Then I stopped, so it could get back to expending its energy responding to other Barbets.

The white-cheeked barbet or small green barbet is a species of barbet found in southern India. It is very similar to the more widespread brown-headed barbet. The main range is along the Western Ghats south from the Surat Dangs and along the associated hills of southern India into parts of the southern Eastern Ghats mainly in the Shevaroy and Chitteri hills.
