"A Dark Spring"

Why did you choose that name for your gown?

I have baptized my dress as "A Dark Spring" because we are just in this beautiful season of the year, I did not conceive a more appropriate name. I love spring and I love its flowers. Which fill my version of this beautiful dress. And the dark thing is clear that it is in protest because I am one more #MeToo

What was your inspiration?

Thinking about the red carpet and that I must express my feelings in some way ... and with the resources of the MVD box, the first thing that made me open my eyes wide was the flowers.

So look for a long evening dress where the flowers were the protagonist.

And there was Angy's perfect dress, The Bound Gown Crow.

I have added a double skirt to which I have hand embroidered all the beautiful roses.

Roses in my hair.

Roses in my bracelets.

How not to call this dress "A Dark Spring"?

Take me down little Susie, take me down

I know you think you're the queen of the underground

And you can send me dead flowers every morning ← ♫

Witch Hazel bloom from a few weeks ago...

slightly warmer weather confused it - all the other blooms were dried up on the stalks,

this one shone in the sunshine.

we lost a dear friend this week - only 32 years old.

Rest in Peace Brian

Props to Artful Activists San Diego, OLB San Diego and San Diego Solidarity Brigade harnessing the power of light. They are illuminating a call to action to change the system and ourselves.

Paying homage to Barbara Kruger's iconic image for the 1989 Women's March on Washington.

Deepest gratitude to Tarana Burke who founded #MeToo. We honor the courage of survivors who forced these issues into the national consciousness.

Sexual Violence is a Pandemic. There is much work yet to be done.

Lock arms with Backbone Campaign to be a part of Bold and Creative action! - backbonecampaign.org

Just in case you didn't know that sexual violence and #MeToo have been with us for a long time, this statute commemorates the early Romans' stealing of wives from a neighboring people.

The "Blue Guide" says that this was Giambologna's last work and describes it as "one of the most successful Mannerist sculptures." The Doring Kindersley guide to Florence & Tuscany adds the further detail that it was carved from a single flawed block of marble. The "single block of marble" point is clearly correct, but the "flawed" part sounds suspiciously like a similar story about Michelangelo's David.

Another fun fact: Giambologna was actually from Flanders; his original name was "Johannes of Boulogne." But he worked in Florence as court sculptor to the Medici Duke Cosimo I for many years.
