The new place of pilgrimage for a modern youth of the modern times: urban outfitters. The stuff is running around with walkie talkies while corresponding their english codes... Great staging! Every single article of clothing is hand selected, cheap and desirable. Every face regardless if it belongs to a customer or a employe is beautiful, young and particular in the everlasting uniformity of the fashion industry. Maybe the octopus represents the narcissism which is grasping everybody's mind piece by piece...

Advice. If you ever try a 365 just cut out december and for example double the january. You can then call it "365 except december" or "365 minus 12 plus 1" or every name you want, but don't try to find the time to get your daily shot with the bunch of obligations in your neck. It really sucks, I can tell you. Ok, the daily story has a reference some days ago, but it gets a new kick from a little sports accident wich happens to Antony and the fact that I was searching for two crutches. I ended up at a friend of mines bicycle shop called "The bicycle doctor". He hasn't got crutches, but he gave me todays motif. Additionally I did my first meaningful hand movement of the day. I lifted the back of the yellow helmet guy, while the bicycle doctor was turning the pedals to find a defective contact. I should think about doing more meaningful hand movements instead what I'm doing now... Folks, have a good night and thanks for following me at this desolate place.

Today I did my first cycling tour here in saint-paul. It was not more than 37km and about 500 difference in altitude, but I must admit that I'm totally exhausted. Ok, the first ride of the year after a long winter is always a bit different and so I hope that it will go better tomorrow. What you see here in the picture is the place to get a orangina and cafe creme after the tour. The cafe de la place is one of the famous places at the cote de azure. In the past there were yves montand playing boule with lino venture while chagall was looking at them... Today there are buses of tourists who are hunting for pictures and some 3rd class art at the many small galleries here in town. I like this place in the evenings when you can get a glass of wine and sit around under the trees. It's very contemplative and relaxing, almost in summer. Now it's of season and everything closes earlier. Folks, have a nice sunday and keep on rolling.

Day #2 of my cold. What else can I do than changing my photo position from the one side of the flat to the other?! I'm a little bit satisfied with the result, because in real the view is a bit more depressive than in the picture here. I also like the shack at the upper left side. Someone has build a real little wooden house where they celebrate some nice "garden" parties during summertime. I hope I can get out here tomorrow or before the weekend... See U soon.
I've cracked it at last.
I know that when you get the hang of it, doing this effect in PS isn't that hard at all. But I've been trying to figure it out for ages, and it turns out I wasn't using the right control / command [whatever] key on the mac and D has set me back on course. Am very chuffed to have overcome this Major Photoshop Obstacle although I know there are technical hitches with the shot - next time....!
Thanks to those that replied to my Help thread, I think I will be purchasing one of the books recommended.

Toady we came together to watch some pictures of the summer journey through the USA. Such a great travel with so many nice places and memories. Of course San Francisco is a place which can be traveled for several times. Retrospective I should also go to Moab again to have some unforgettable hikes through arches NP or the canyon lands. But there are no plans for the future at this moment. Back home I created this little trick with Stars and Stripes and a chocolate candy. I hope this images doesn't upset or disturb you... Thanks for all your comments and faves on my stream.

There are several things I don't understand about the others, especially the the X-mas market scene. Today I got another lesson in things I really don't understand. Look at the picture above. Of course you can't understand what you see, because nobody expect a christmas crib designed in the way a whole load of a big kermis truck looks when it fall of the rack in a sharp turn. Overall I guess it is just another whiteness of the heartless and ruthless way the consumer industry is trying to squeeze the money out of our pockets... But not for nothing god is be described as our father while we are also known as the sheep... maybe the christmas market is our barn?

Ok, ok, this is not the best xmas picture I can imagine. But on my way through the quarter I met him in front of the bakery. He's well known in colognes street musician business, but he's also a great enfant terrible of happiness and nutrition research and a book writer. I don't know much about his assumptions, but I like his unrestrained singing and playing in the streets. He book is about "Wealth and health for everyone" and I must lough about the horrible images of bad bakery products in the background. Anyway, he gives the impression that he is happy with what he's doing and therefore I clap my hands together for this lonely and strange guy. Marry christmas folks.

Today we had to visit the music school where Antony learns to play the piano. Of course I made some shots of the piano recital, but the background where the kids played the piano and the whole interior of the room was so awful that I couldn't post the picture here. So I found this nice posters in the lobby. The left asks the questing how it would be if nobody is willing to support other classmates. And the left poster as the question how it would be if nobody is willing to care about light and sound during events... Good questions. Thanks folks for following my s**t on flickr, Facebook and tumblr.

I had left my house with the intention to take a shot of the freight terminal at Eifeltor. It took me a whole hour till I gave up and took the highway home... The area of Eifeltor is closed area where you cant drive or walk trough as a pedestrian. So it isn't that easy to get a picture, especially from a good outlook. There is just one possibility and this is to climb the ridge of the highway which passes the area. But folks this was a real mission impossible. On the one side there is a thick forest and the prostitution area and on the other side there is a road bed with about twenty rail tracks and high fences after you've illegal passed a home for animals... I gave up when I was standing beside the highway and the cars were passing me with great speed. I took the way back home via the same bridge and at least I took a shot through the window of my car... and voila, thats what you see here. A picture of the freight terminal of Eifeltor in a blurry way... Folks, I wish you a nice week.
The time has come for (drumroll)...."ME time". Well, at least a little bit of it. All 4 kids are at school in the mornings this year (4 days a week), which is HUGE for me...just HUGE! For the last 13 years I've had someone under my care 24/7. SO....a little nap, computer time, shooting, editing....shopping?! It all sounds great!!! I've been craving a bit of freedom and it is FINALLLY here...at long last! (But, I'll most likely use it to clean up the house and do laundry, lol!).

Today it was a really bad weather. Rainy, windy and cold. On my way back home from the office I saw this christmas tree in front of a church. Only the lower parts were full of strange decorations the rest of the tree was naked. It looks a bit funny and improvised, but somehow also touching. So I parked the little car at the other side of the street so that the lights illuminated the tree as good as possible. So I got this ugly picture with the flying decorations and the strange tree near the crossroad in the rain... Folks, have a nice weekend.

Today I did a great cycling tour over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito. Sausalito is a little sunny place at the other side of the bridge. The view was just excellent, especially from the bridge. To come back to SF I took the ferry to the Pot of San Francisco as you can see in the picture. From the port I took a complicated path through South of Market, which was a poor and dangerous quarter, but now the most of the old storehouses are renovated. From there on I made my way to mission again, a quarter I really love. You can imagine how many old and nice wooden houses are standing there. After about 50km of cycling I was back in the hotel. Till now I don't have an idea which way i will take tomorrow...

Sometimes bad weather is simply fine. For example if you have a cold and foggy morning like today you don't need any filters or effects to get a great mysterious result. So this morning I just had to release the shutter and thats it. I was standing there and I thought about the way the landscape is light-roomed and the fact that I like the natural and special result of this transformation. So I guess the winter will bring some nice effects and that makes me happy and curious. Folks, please drive carefully!

Yesterday I went to that Japanese restaurant here in the neighborhood. For me the Tabioka is one of the best Japanese restaurants in Cologne and I have noticed that I should go there more often. It's always like a little vacation to step into this kind of interior and I always reminds me of many nice flickr friends and their exotic shots. Just to have some Japanese signs within a picture is a kind of valorizing for me. Maybe it's because I only see graphics in the lettering? Anyway, I would have the chance to travel to Japan one day to get more of these great impressions. Folks, I wish you a nice evening.

These three hornists were playing in front of the WDR a german broadcasting station in the city center. Even though the german cities are not as rocks like the american ones, nevertheless it was nice to hear the sound of the mountains in the middle of the huge crowds of people. Can you see the little animals sitting in the wide opening of the horns? The nose of the one in the middle was blinking red... funny, isn't it?! After that I walked to a little church and I took some minutes to relax. It's always the same, outside there are masses, inside there is silence... That's what I'm looking for. Thanks for following my s**t on flickr.

Folks, I'm very happy with the shot today. I came home late, and I promise that I had no idea, and not one minute of me-time today. So I decided to give myself one last chance to do my daily shot, while making a walk through the neighborhood to get some fresh air. And then it happened! Just a few steps away, I found the gate to the playground of the primary school open. I saw the orange and the light grey, and I knew that this could be the thing! Normally I won't say it, but I really like this one. I like the shadows, the light grey and the fresh orange indeed. So I can post it and get back to work. Thanks my friends for your kind comments and faves!
Sometimes it pays just to stop, breathe and recharge.

Today there was parents evening in Antony's school. We talked with different teachers about the situation in the class and we got some very useful hints for the future. Nevertheless, beside the lectureship school is also a kind of punishment and gratification institution which is very disputable. Everything is aligned to boost the self-confidence not the feeling of self-worth of a human being... but this is only my humble opinion and nothing more. Thanks folks for following my s**t on flickr.
I went for a walk this afternoon to Lakeview Beach. Though I am sad that summer has come to a close I am happy that it is fall because it is my favorite season. A bit chilly today, I had my sweatshirt on, but I still took off my shoes and put my feet in the cold wet sand. I feel so fortunate that I live so close to such a beautiful place. Every season brings something different but they are all equally as beautiful.
Sitting at the beach today reminded me that we all need to slow down just a bit and enjoy all that is around us. We can't go through life so fast that we don't see the beauty in our world. I have been very busy lately but am glad that I was able to take a bit of time for myself today.
Have a good Sunday everyone!
To achieve this shot I added an editorial action layered with a vintage action. I then added a slight texture as an overlay. A bit different from my norm but I have really been trying to be more creative lately. I have been trying to think outside the box and broaden my horizons.
