©Lela Bouse-McCracken ::: Nothing gets me out of the house faster than waking up to fog. Unless it's fog combined with hovering freezing temperature. ;-)

©Lela Bouse-McCracken ::: It is amazing how some flowers are formed...I've always loved Fuchsia. This is a new potted plant addition to my patio this year. I was afraid it might not get enough light, but it's covered with new buds. I'm very happy about that. :-)

©Lela Bouse-McCracken ::: And here we have what is called either a "Shark Eye" or "Moon Snail" shell. I chose a larger aperture for this because I wanted it all in sharp focus. I liked the rich colors of the shell on the black background as opposed to the white. And I used a light on only one side of the light tent. :-)

"Hannah McCracken Kelly, our mother, taken after her death."
Hannah B. McCracken was the daughter of John and Mary McCracken (or Mecracken), who farmed in Claysville, Washington County, Pennsylvania, during the early 19th Century. Named after the “Great Compromiser” U.S. Senator Henry Clay (1777-1852), the town is located on the line of the Cumberland Road which forms its Main Street. Claysville is 18 miles east of Wheeling, West Virginia, and 10 miles west of Washington, Pennsylvania. The town was laid out in 1817 and remained unincorporated until 1832.
John McCracken was born about 1795 in Pennsylvania and died 28 December, 1865, in Claysville. His wife, Mary, the daughter of Samuel Caldwell of Buffalo Township, was born in about 1797 and died 4 August, 1878. The couple married in Washington County on 30 December, 1820. They are buried together in the old Purviance Cemetery, Claysville.
A second copy of this daguerreotype exists and was sold on eBay in July 2012. Almost unbelievably, a third copy, located in Australia, was sold on eBay in October 2012. It must be assumed that each of Hannah's children had a copy of this image. Mine appears to be the original and the only one with identifying information enclosed.

Assistant Principal violin with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, photographed in Auckland with Rangitoto in the distance.
With growing interest in the Australian Silo Art Trail, painting the museum was a way of not only honouring our veterans but also to attract visitors to their beautiful town.
The Society was successful in obtaining a Federal Government grant for drought-affected communities and then award-winning artist Jenny McCracken (Zest International Events) was engaged to paint the mural.
The society chose two iconic images from the Vietnam War for Jenny to use as her inspiration. The mural facing west features a group of soldiers from 7RAR waiting to be picked up by the iconic Huey helicopters, while the mural facing north includes soldiers paying their respects beside the Long Tan Cross.
Highly recommended you view the Info source, and much more about the site and the Museum, here:
From Wikipedia: Robert McCracken (25 June 1890 – unknown), also known as Roy McCracken was a Northern Irish professional footballer who played as a defender or as a wing half. He was a cousin of Billy McCracken who also had a career as a professional footballer.
McCracken was born in Dromore, County Down, at that time part of a united Ireland, but subsequently within the region of Northern Ireland, part of the UK. He began his youth career with local club Dromore United. In 1910 he joined Lisburn Distillery at that time known as plain Distillery or, unofficially, as Belfast Distillery. He made 118 appearances, in all competitions, between then and 1920. His career was interrupted by service in World War I but he returned to play for the club thereafter.
In 1920 he signed for Crystal Palace then playing in the Football League Third Division in its inaugural season. Although he sustained a broken leg in December he made 18 league appearances in 1920–21 as Palace won the title and promotion to the Football League Second Division. That season, he also made his debut for the Northern Ireland national football team.
McCracken returned from injury to play in Palace's first season in the second division, making 35 appearances in the league, scoring once. Over the subsequent three seasons, he made 40, 37 and 25 league appearances respectively, but without scoring. In 1925, Palace were relegated but McCracken remained with the club for one further season, making 20 appearances before returning to Ireland in 1926 to play for Portadown.
©Lela Bouse-McCracken ::: "At one time, the beautiful plumes of the Snowy Egret were in great demand by market hunters as decorations for women's hats. This reduced the population of the species to dangerously low levels. Now it is protected by law, under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, and this bird's population has rebounded." -Wikipedia
