SERNANCELHE (Portugal): Igreja Matriz.
A antiga vila de Sernancelhe, no distrito de Viseu, possui uma imponente Igreja Matriz, construída originalmente entre os séculos XII-XIII, sob a vigência da arte românica. Numa das paredes exteriores do templo é visível a inscrição do ano de 1210. Contudo, o templo seria parcialmente remodelado no século XVII, sem que essa intervenção apagasse os traços românicos anteriores. Está classificada como Monumento Nacional.
Maciça, a frontaria granítica é antecedida de alguns degraus, rasgando-se nela um portal românico de três arquivoltas, sendo o arco interno decorado por renque de dez anjos esculpidos. O tímpano de linhas ondeadas é preenchido por relevos vegetalistas e geométricos. Os arcos de volta perfeita repousam sobre três pares de colunas com capitéis de cariz fitomórfico. Ao nível das arquivoltas, o portal é ladeado por dois baldaquinos, sob os quais se abrigam figuras de santos e os evangelistas; de um lado estão três imagens, dois evangelistas do tetramorfo rodeando S. Pedro, enquanto no outro figuram os dois restantes acompanhando o Apóstolo S. Paulo. O edifício é rematado por uma empena triangular, flanqueado por urnas sobre pedestais e, ao centro, ergue-se uma cruz latina. Lateralmente, desenvolve-se a torre sineira quadrangular e robusta, rasgada por ventanas e marcada na cornija por pináculos triangulares sobre pedestais.
O corpo da igreja é formado por uma só nave, rasgando-se nas suas paredes laterais três capelas. A que se abre no lado direito terá sido usada como capela funerária da família dos condes da Lapa, enquanto as duas do lado oposto expõem interessantes e esculturas hagiográficas de madeira.
A capela-mor possui um grande altar barroco em talha dourada. Uma campanha de obras realizada pela Direção-Geral de Edifícios e Monumentos Nacionais (D. G. E. M. N.) na década de 70 deste século, pôs a descoberto importantes frescos murais quinhentistas, que estavam ocultados por dois retábulos de pintura em madeira. Esses frescos representam a Sra. do Rosário e a Virgem do Apocalipse rodeada por uma composição floral. Nas paredes da ousia contemplam-se quatro pinturas, duas delas em madeira e filiando-se na oficina de Vasco Fernandes - o famoso pintor viseense mais conhecido por Grão Vasco.

PALMELA (Portugal): Igreja Matriz de São Pedro de Palmela.
A Igreja de S. Pedro, igreja matriz de Palmela é um edifício do século XVI que apresenta três naves com colunas toscanas e está revestida interiormente por painéis de azulejos barrocos datados do século XVIII, onde estão representadas cenas da vida de São Pedro. Inclui ainda um importante conjunto escultórico e pictórico setecentista.

A Paróquia São Pedro, conhecida também como Igreja São Pedro, cuja construção atual foi inaugurada no início da década de 1940, fica no centro da cidade de Gramado. Sua torre tem 46 metros de altura e grande parte de seu revestimento foi feito com pedras. De dentro da igreja, que pode ser visitada sem qualquer custo, é possível admirar mais de perto os vitrais sacros de seu altar. Embora seja uma igreja simples, sua arquitetura é muito bonita e a construção tem um grande apreço dos moradores locais. Na frente da igreja, está uma praça com estátuas em homenagem aos apóstolos
ESPOSENDE (Portugal): Igreja Matriz.
Remonta a 1566 a primitiva ermida, dedicada a Nossa Senhora da Graça. Em 1758 terá dado lugar à nova Igreja, remodelada para matriz da Vila de Esposende, dotada de altar-mor e nave principal abobadada, com sacristia, altares laterais, dois púlpitos e duas torres sineiras, tomando a invocação a Santa Maria dos Anjos, padroeira de Esposende. Entre 1885 e 1896 foi ampliada a igreja no seu interior e melhorada a fachada, sendo erguida ao gosto neoclássico de três corpos. Desta obra resulta a instalação do órgão de tubos. Em 1968 a torre sineira é também dotada de um relógio. No seu interior destaque para os vitrais, os painéis azulejares, o coro e a pia batismal.

Seen from the ferry to Pico, this waterfront lies in Matriz, the oldest part of the City of Horta on Faial Island in the Azores. The area was founded around 1467 by Joss d'Utra, son of Flemish pioneer Josse van Huerter, who originally brought Flemish settlers to the island. In 1498, King Manuel I of Portugal established the religious parish of Matriz do Santíssimo Salvador here by royal decree.
The tower visible just left of center in the photo marks the site of the original Catholic church, Matriz de São Salvador, inaugurated on June 28, 1514. This church was sacked in 1589 by British privateers and in 1597 burnt by English forces under Walter Raleigh, who burned many of the town’s religious sites. Reconstruction took place between 1607 and 1615, and in the early 18th century, the clock tower was added with a mechanism imported from England. Although the church was damaged by multiple earthquakes, it stood until 1825 when all but the clock tower was demolished. Today, the clock tower, Torre do Relógio, remains as a tribute to the early church and settlers.
SEIXAL (Portugal): Igreja Matriz do Seixal.
Localizada no Largo da Igreja, na freguesia do Seixal, é um monumento religioso construído no século XVIII, sobre os alicerces de uma igreja do século anterior. A igreja é dedicada a Nossa Senhora da Conceição. Apresenta uma arquitetura religiosa maneirista e barroca, com uma nave única retangular e um altar-mor com talha do século XVIII. A fachada da igreja é revestida a azulejos de estilo barroco.
Through out the Azores, as one would expect, there are many historic Catholic Churches and most have interesting stories. The Church (Igreja) of Nossa Senhora dos Milagres located in the village of Serreta on the Island of Terceira is no exception. Although the current church building there was not constructed until the late 19th Century, the history of the Church and the Parish had its beginnings at the end of the 17th Century. Finding himself persecuted unfairly, Father Isidro Fagundes Machado took refuge in a slightly settled, remote area of Terceira Island called Queimado which is the area where the present-day village of Serreta is located. In fulfillment of a vow, after he arrived, Fr Machado erected a small chapel where he placed an image of Our Lady and a manger with the Child Jesus. As the priest’s reputation spread so did stories of miracles that came to those who visited the site. Many pilgrims came. Even after the Priest died they came to visit the statue (image) and ask for miracles. But the little church fell into disrepair and so did the small hermitage that followed.
The first commitment to rebuild a church in the Queimado area dates back to 1772, when the brothers of the Confraria dos Escravos de Nossa Senhora gathered in the Doze Ribeiras. At the time, it was agreed that the old Church of the Virgin should be rebuilt, in Serreta. However, work on the church only started in 1819, on the initiative of General Francisco António de Araújo, then appointed Captain General of the Azores. It was completed in 1842. The venerated image of the Christ Child and Our Lady again took up residence in the Church after being protected for our a hundred years in the church in Doze Ribeiras.
The 1842 Church was located across the road from the current church and was of a modest size. With a growing number of locals and pilgrims attending, the church’s size was soon insufficient. The building of the current church commenced in 1895 when the first stone was laid. The date on the outside of the church reads 1898 but the constuction schedule suffered interruptions due to lack of resources. The dedication finally took place in 1907. Like many buildings on Terceira, The January 1, 1980 earthquake badly damaged the building. The building was reconstructed but with the same design.

Iglesia Matriz de Caraz, Provincia de Huaylas, Departamento de Ancash, perú.
La Iglesia es conocida como la Iglesia de Piedra. Su nombre oficial es Parroquia de San Ildefonso. Es una construcción pétrea de origen Colonial, que posiblemente fue construida antes del año 1585, aunque no existen vestigios históricos al respecto; la construcción actual, es producto de la última remodelación (y restauración), realizada del antiguo templo.
A Ermida de São Pedro ou Capela de São Pedro ou Matriz de São Pedro ou Ermida de Nossa Senhora do Rosário ou ainda Santuário de Nossa Senhora do Rosário, localizada na freguesia de Corval, concelho de Reguengos de Monsaraz, foi edificada no Século XVI, sofrendo alguma alterações no Século XVIII.
É um monumento em vias de classificação pelo IPPAR, como Imóvel de Interesse Público (Despacho de Homologação de 23 de Maio de 2003).

Iglesia Matriz: ubicada en el centro de la ciudad, construida después de la primera Iglesia de Cotacachi, cuenta con varias obras de la escuela de arte de Quito, con altares de pan de oro y está conformada por 6 capillas. Esta iglesia conserva un estilo neoclásico, en ella se combina la arquitectura Griega y Romana, en su interior se encuentran obras de arte del siglo XVIII y cuenta con varias de la escuela de arte de Quito.
