If you are going to bulk buy Matchbox models from Poundland then you could do no worse than this amazingly bright and bold looking 1963 Cadillac Ambulance. Creepy but stylish in equal measure this 2016 recolour appeared at this discount store back in early 2017. Mint and boxed.
What better way to get your miniature limousine fix than the Matchbox Cadillac One which was introduced some time in 2015. It seemed like ages before stocks started arriving here in the U.K. via Morrisons but it was definitely worth the wait. A lack of an interior isn't really an issue to me as most limousines have darkened windows and the proportions seem far better than what I was expecting. An unusual type of vehicle in this scale and price point but as ever Matchbox nailed it and probably any other colour than black just won't look right as the newer white one has proved. Mint and boxed.
Recent charity shop found gift in the form of this play worn but still charming Matchbox Porsche 935 Racing.
2021 Case A recolour of the Matchbox 1943 Willys Jeep, one of a couple found recently at Tesco. A licensed WARN livery helps lift its simple but rugged looks plus i've added a bit of detailing to the lights and grille area. Mint and boxed.
Im almost glad Matchbox no longer make this 1969 Volvo P1800S casting anymore, can you imagine it plastered in dull grey plastic!! This is another one of those Golden Era Matchbox models from around ten years ago which dragged me back in to the world of Matchbox from which my sanity and bank balance have never recovered since! For a pocket money plaything it looks and feels almost perfect and captures those iconic 1960's lines brilliantly, an absolute testament to the Matchbox design team of the era.
Bought recently from my local Bargain World who's toy section looks like it belongs in a different era, not ONE SINGLE dreadful HTI generic in sight!

Matchbox 2016 Fiat 500X seen here in a red recolour which initially debuted in a five vehicle set back in 2019 and now in a new nine vehicle set. Mint and boxed.
A Matchbox model definitely worth waiting for was the original debut black version of the Cadillac One limousine which finally hit our U.K. stores back in the closing month of 2015. It was a minor revelation seeing a stretched limo in the MBX range and indeed at this end of the diecast market as this type of vehicle is rarely modelled in 1/64 scale. A glossy black finish envelopes a crisp and accurate looking casting which although lacks an interior does compensate this with its full tampo treatment and wonderful chrome disc wheels. This was one of many bought from Morrisons back in January 2016 which at the time was still very much my main destination for new batch MBX. Mint and boxed.
The Matchbox Moving Parts 1980 Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL gets its second release and as a casting its still very appealing, harking back to the Lesney original which itself had opening parts at the time. Finished in a delicate metallic green I would rate this release higher if it wasn't for the terrible paint quality which blights its doors. Its not just the poor paint match but the colour on them is very hazy. Hopefully mine is just a one off and not indicative of all that have come off the production line.

The quirky Citroen Ami quadricycle has also spawned the equally quirky Opel Rocks and the new generation Fiat Topolino. None are really suitable for anywhere but crowded European streets and remain automotive curios due to very restrictive range and top speeds.
Matchbox in their quest for having a truly remarkably diverse line up have modelled both the Ami and Topolino and both remarkably appear not to be peg warmers, certainly not here in the UK anyway.
Seen here in its brand new recolour which with its matte olive green colour almost looks like some miniature army vehicle! ;-p
Part of 2025 Case K found recently at The Entertainer.

Debut release of the Matchbox 1976 Honda Civic CVCC in its very era appropriate mustard yellow colour. Technically this casting did appear at Tesco at the time but not for very long and not well distributed so saviour is at hand thanks to Poundstretcher getting in this 2020 Case C assortment in. Mint and boxed.
I know I know I shouldn't have but my local Tesco had put out yet more 2022 Case B Matchbox and I couldn't resist getting a few more of the more appealing releases from that assortment.

The Matchbox 1964 Chevrolet C10 Longbed debuted recently in the more premium aimed Collectors series yet its follow on recolour is downgraded to the Moving Parts line. Ironically I actually prefer this version with its more stock looking colour scheme and perfect chrome disc wheels though its front tampo to lights and grille look a tad on the grainy side!

Super charming from every angle and one which thankfully Matchbox have had the good sense in putting it into both 2025 Case E and F. Particularly good news for any UK collector who missed out on it a few months ago as this assortment has been spotted at some Poundland stores.
Despite its diminutive size this casting packs in a LOT of charm for which Matchbox have captured extremely well, lovely delicate chromed bumpers, disc wheels and minimal but purposeful levels of tampo detailing.
Sourced recently from Jcar.

Beautiful new Matchbox 1953 Buick Skylark making its debut in 2021 Case F which miraculously appeared at Tesco in very healthy volumes. Very impressive from every angle and a joy to admire once in hand. Mint and boxed.
This bizarre, but real life, vehicle returns in the Matchbox line up for Case D in exactly the same colour as the first. Fun but will no doubt be a pegwarmer again too. Mint and boxed.
At last! The Matchbox 1980 Mercedes-Benz S123 Wagon casting gets the premium touch bestowed upon it and my god does it look good! No longer do I need to strain my eyes colouring in the grey plastic with my chrome Molotow pen, the factory has given it plenty!
I've always been a big fan of this casting and now I can enjoy it with better wheels riding on rubber tyres and with tampo detailing on all four sides! Definitely one of my favourites from the latest mix of the Collectors series.

What should have been one of the highlight castings of the Matchbox Moving Parts series has turned into a slight embarrassment due to silly and niggling oversights and a desire to cost cut to the bone. The standard 2006 Ford Crown Victoria casting has usually been well liked with Emergency and Taxi collectors and giving it opening rear doors should have been the icing on the cake. Sadly somebody forgot to tell the Matchbox Team that this is a Police Car and not a Taxi and thus shouldn't have used a lightbar with the word TAXI on it! :-0 Not only that but just look at the horrendous paint match on its said rear opening doors. They are disappointingly made of plastic negating any feeling of quality and have taken on a blue tinge instead of bright white like the rest of the metal body.
Such a shame as there is certainly no complaints about its licensed NYPD livery, use of chrome disc wheels and clear plastic for headlights.
Part of Series 2 sourced directly from China. Mint and boxed.
Although Matchbox cars are still very much priced, distributed and designed to be childrens toys its clear their designers have adult collectors very much in mind. How else can you explain such joys as this new 1962 Plymouth Savoy. Its a car not relevant to pretty much anybody from outside of the U.S. but is quite rightly proving very popular wherever it is sold.
A crisp boxy casting with lots of chrome, rear detailing and rides on sweet chrome disc wheels. Seen here in Power Grabs guise but is also now appearing at Tesco in normal short cards. Mint and boxed.
Its follow up recolour has been a long time coming since the Matchbox Alfa Romeo Giulia first appeared back in late 2019! I can tell you it has definitely been worth the wait with its ultra clean and ultra glossy metallic white finish. Full front and rear detailing and darkened wheels are a nice touch for a release which i'm sure is going to be very popular with many collectors. Part of the brand new 2021 Case F. Mint and boxed.
A casting used on a fairly frequent basis by Matchbox, with certainly no complaints from me, and returns once again to be included in the second UK Series mix.
Unlike its previous similar looking five vehicle set release this version has factory applied chrome as well as detailed front and rear lights and badging. Ironically this new assortment has yet to appear in the UK! Grrrrrr!

I knew the International CXT was coming back for 2018 in E Case and I knew what it looked like thanks to various pics on the internet but what I wasn't expecting was it to look so good once in hand. I should be disappointed by so much dull grey plastic but again it suits this big hulk of a vehicle and what makes it for me is this matte olive green finish and delicate little side tampo detailing. A highly unique vehicle beautifully modelled by Matchbox. Bought recently from my local ASDA as part of Case E merely one week after also getting in Case D. At this rate F is just around the corner! ;-p Mint and boxed.
Despite the new Top Gun Maverick film release being severely delayed due to Coronavirus it hasn't stopped the associated Matchbox sets from appearing. I'm not sure whether they will come to the U.K. as I haven't seen any in Tesco yet though quite a lot are appearing on UK Ebay sites so who knows. My sets were sourced from the U.S.
Each five vehicle assortment for me are good although I could happily pass on the nasty plastic Swing Wing fighter planes but the one casting everybody is lusting after is this. Their new 1956 Aston Martin DBR1 is an absolute STUNNER and really makes you appreciate the talent at Matchbox who can create such gems when hampered by such strict cost measures. Lots of gorgeous nice touches and detailing and I believe will also be available as a single in the next batch of singles. Mint and boxed.
Another almost pristine early 1970's Superfast era Matchbox model saved from the bin recently which still makes me shudder at the thought of their potential landfill grave! :-0
I seem to remember having a couple of the plain green coloured versions of the Mercury Commuter as a child but never this super crisp all white Police variant which was slightly altered to incorporate roof mounted lights.
Ticking pretty much all my boxes in terms of it being a boxy U.S. themed Station Wagon I have always admired this casting despite it being a bit before my time and one which lived on after in the form of various Far Eastern copies. All metal in its construction gives it that long since disappeared weighty feel with plenty of cast in detailing. Unbelievably its paper stickers have survived too!
I'm pretty certain this generation of Chevrolet Caprice never had black bumpers, even in basic fleet spec but plenty of cars did even in the mid 90's so this last example I got in a full case of Batch B gets its bumpers in that colour. Mint and boxed.
Beautiful and simple all red recolour for the Matchbox 1962 VW Beetle which appeared in last years R Case and was one of many which quite literally never appeared in the U.K. A collector friend did send me one at the time along with a few more duplicates from a case he had ordered from the U.S. but recently I did the decent thing and order a full case for myself :-)
This casting was only reissued a few years back with some subtle modifications to make it cheaper to manufacture but in essence remains a very convincing effort. Alas chrome is courtesy of Dr Molotow as otherwise its the same dreary unpainted grey plastic. Mint and boxed.
Always happy to see the Matchbox 1964 Ford Fairlane Wagon even if this one no longer has any chrome! From the excellent MBX Wagons five vehicle set which I would have bought to death had it ever made its way to the UK. Alas it hasn't though I did find this in a Spanish Toys R Us recently. Mint and boxed.
