Maine Garage (BW)
This photo is digitized from my slide film collection. In 1986 I would drive to Maine for the weekend because there was a great little Lobster shack where you could get a two pound lobster for about $8, a real bargain. The cars in this photo were parked a couple of miles away from this lobster shack and I used to always remark on the age of the cars. Finally, I pulled my camera out when there was a break in the light traffic and took this photo. The original photo is in color and I may post it some day, but I like the black and white version. When I look at this picture it just feels like a different time. And it is. The lobster shack that I loved so much is now a real restaurant where that two pound lobster today costs you about $24.
Our office has a new web site and I was asked to take the "corporate" head shots. (We are not a corporation although you might not know it from these photos. Anyway, it's a different, more common portrait than I usually take. I thought they came out pretty well.
During a recent visit to my son's school I found myself in the art room. I asked his teacher if I could poke around for a while and take some photos.
This photo was taken at the Priscilla Beach Theater in Plymouth, MA. The theater is in the process of being refurbished and the owner allowed our photo club to come in to shoot before the interior was razed. It was a unique opportunity to preserve some small portion of history. This is a photo of the organizer's husband as he came through the back entrance to the theater. She recognized the unique lighting when he walked through the door. I happened to have my second camera handy and took a couple of shots as he posed for her.

This photo was taken with Kodak Ektachrome 200 film. There is a certain warmness in film that you don't quite get from the digital camera.
Finally got to shoot a little bit and found myself at Wetherill State Park after viewing a Flickr friend's web page. It's almost 51 degrees today. Unbelievable.
This photograph was taken as part of a Meetup in Plymouth, MA. The assignment, should we choose to accept it, was to create depth of field shots. This was an interesting exercise because the wharf in Plymouth is a place where we have all shot many times before. However, just having an assignment breathed new life into an old place.
I was watching the leaves turn this electric yellow and noticed this one branch that was bare of leaves except for this cluster at the end of the branch. It looked like the leaves were just floating in air. Using the red door as a background I snapped that floating bunch of leaves.
The Shadow Collection is a collection of photos taken at Nobska Lighthouse in Falmouth during sunset. While shooting there one day I noticed the young lady in the white pants casting an interesting shadow. Over the next couple of hours I photographed other people walking around the Lighthouse.
My Dad never owned a Ford but he did own an old black and yellow mercury. I was driving the backroads of Rhode Island when I passed this junker in North Smithfield. I like to think about what it was like when this truck was new. I wonder how long it has been sitting in this driveway. I got the feeling that these days it was just watching the world go by and was probably envious of the new trucks it sees on the road.
