One of the most fascinating things I've come across in my short journey into Macro is the story of this caterpillar. It's the larva for a Wavy-lined Emerald moth - aka Camouflaged Looper. The caterpillar can eat a variety of flowers, this one is on a Coneflower. It has evolved to take pieces of the flower/plant it is feeding on and glue them all over its body. Most of the time they blend in seamlessly with the plant they are feeding on, but this one is in the open. I've since seen them on a number of different flowers, and they are just bonkers!

In January 2016, giant hardware chain Masters was reported to be closing. Created as a direct competitor to Bunnings Warehouse, Masters had hundreds of millions of dollars pumped into its development, with about 60 stores throughout Australia.

I vastly preferred Masters to Bunnings. Masters colour scheme was more pleasant to the eye, the aisles were wider and somewhat more tidy, and the prices were in line with Bunnings, making it a more pleasant shopping experience.

Outside Masters sits a lone blue trolley car, in which two kids can sit and ride while parents do their shopping. It will be sad to see it all gone.

Oogway is the creator of kung fu and master of the Jade Palace in the movie Kung Fu Panda. This was a commissioned piece.

This MOC was really fun to build, but I was worried about being able to make the sash out of LEGO. Luckily the Ewok hang glider wings worked out well. The eyes are custom made stickers.

The "Flight of the Raptor" falcon and hawk flying demonstration

and show is beauty of flight designed to educate, enlighten and sometimes even amaze their audiences. Many thousands have seen their programs and return year after year to sometimes just visit the birds and enjoy the beauty of the flight.

Flight of the Raptor was officially founded in 1995 by Ray Pena, Master Falconer. His love for birds began when he was just a young boy of 15 keeping homing pigeons in New York City. He became fascinated by the airborne predators that pursued and eventually killed some of his charges. He began a lifelong journey that brought him to his mentor, Heinz Meng, a renowned expert on falcons and one of the most influential people in the project to save the peregrine falcon from extinction.

Ray passed his love for these creatures along to his daughter, Jennifer Pena, who after taking her first steps on the flying fields, became a master falconer as well. Sharron Montgomery, a former raptor rehabilitator joined the team in 2010 and is presently an apprentice falconer.

The mission of their programs is to instill wonder into their audiences by helping them to understand the vital importance of these magnificent creatures to our natural world by demonstrating the beauty of free flight and how these birds behave in their natural habitat. The cornerstone of their program is their birds and they have a large cast of both falcons and hawks for their programs. We invite you to explore their website, learn, and come to love these birds as they do. As they work to expand the information, please feel free to drop them a line at the form below or call if you are interested in booking a nature program, a renaissance or native american falconry show, or appearance in some other capacity. They look forward to seeing you!

Detail of one of the high stone gargoyles protecting the southern flank of Lichfield Cathedral.

Not quite sure what he was originally holding, nor am I entirely convinced that this is a true gargoyle - one that issues water off the roof. Tonally pleased with this one and the combined circle and triangle geometries.

We stopped on the way up to Algonquin Park at Burleigh Falls, an old favorite spot where William Self would take photos while his grandfather fished.

I took this long exposure photograph of William working his own exposures using a ND1000 filter.
