This year's Samhuinn Fire Festival is tomorrow - the 31st of October, Halloween - and I hadn't got round to blogging about my costume for last year's until right now. I wanted to include at least one good picture of my mask in the light, to complement this great but gloomy one of me in full costume, so I went out in the garden and grabbed a couple quickly.

Here's the blog entry in question - 'Wearable Art – Valravn of Samhuinn'.

19th Centurey mask, used on ceremonial occasions, chiefs wear elaborate headdresses with beautifully carved frontlets. This Nisga's frontlet, displaying a Hawk sorrounded by eleven Owls psresnts a cheif's family crrest.

I made this sleep mask for myself. The teeth and "Bite Me" are embroidered with glow in the dark thread.

I like the TM Pro Goggles method of fastening. The elastic strap has a plastic clip fastener so the mask can be very easily removed.

Apparently - I haven't tried this yet - the goggles can be detached from teh mask section to act as a pair of stand-alone goggles. Handy if it works.
