“One Life, One Book, One Time,” a Coptic-sewn book with a full-case bind-ing of brown calfskin nestled in the belly of a doll, is the title of one of 50 Guild of Book Workers juried pieces that comprise the “Marking Time” ex-hibit on view through November 22 at San Francisco Public Library’s main branch. Created by book binder Kathy Strother of Greenville, South Carolina, the doll is a metaphor for a woman and the book represents her children and her life. The exhibit will travel to nine venues across the country through March 2011
According to the rules of bareback bronc riding, the rider must have spurs over the break of the horse’s shoulders and touching the horse when the horse’s feet hit the ground on the first jump. Marking 36 years of 'Roe v. Wade' in the Diocese of Phoenix
While millions of men and women across the country mark the 36th anniversary of Roe v. Wade this Jan. 22, pro-life supporters from across Arizona will gather in Tempe for three days of marching, prayer and education.
This year’s events are a departure for the annual life rally, which in the past has centered on a march to the state Capitol in downtown Phoenix.

I should explain this one. Every singe drain in the whole city, including right out in the suburbs, are marked with a series of coloured dots.
At first i though this was some kind of marking to show when then had last been cleaned, but there seam to always be multiple marks of very similar ages

A team were renewing road markings in our neighbourhood. This involved removing a yellow cross-hatched box using high-pressure water jets.
It was annoying at first. I couldn't concentrate on the book I was reading, so I gave myself up to it, as if it were a municipal version of Metal Machine Music. After a while I began to aurally hallucinate, believing I could hear brocken spectres emerging from the din.
They've gone now. But I kept a memento.
First test cutting a marking template on a cutting plotter then using the template to mark the rod cut points and numbers. The numbers are in binary with 0 as . and 1 as -

The Swiss hiking trails are extremely well marked. Here is just one type of trail marking. More commonly we would see simple yellow diamonds to let you know you were on the main trail.

Best told from the similar Heart and Club by the solid black mark at the front of the Thorax, which is a constant character, although it can be fainter in some individuals.
Its a very variable mth colour wise and in the extent of the forewing marks, and abberations do occur. However, the thorax marking should sort out those!
Named from the the combination of a tooth like marking (Dart) and dark Kidney mark (heart), the moth is very common and widespread. In fact, it is one of the more regular visitors to the light trap, with records of a hundred or so over a single night!
They can be found in a multitude of differing habitats, since they have a diverse choice of foodplants.
