This is a tiny (the marks on the ruler say 5mm) watch cog. (MM not imperial)
Placed on a metal ruler, you can see the size compared to the markings and the depth of the ruler itself. Had to use extension tubes on top of my usual 90mm macro to get in this close. I even used a tripod instead of hand held.
(Going to be interesting to see how may tags get autocorrected to My Closet as mine tried too!)

Red-shouldered Hawk (Buteo lineatus)
I just love the marking on the back of this raptor. One of the most beautiful raptors out there! Pole Farm, Mercer Meadows, N.J.
The only true time which a man can properly call his own, is that which he has all to himself; the rest, though in some sense he may be said to live it, is other people's time, not his.

Small dark dragonfly with a pale creamy white face.
Male: black with red-orange markings.
Female: black with yellow markings.
It requires relatively deep, oligotrophic, acidic bog pools with considerable rafts of Sphagnum at the edges in which to breed.
Larvae also occur among waterlogged Sphagnum in depressions devoid of standing water.
The larvae live within the matrix of submerged and floating sphagnum and are confined to waters without fish. Away from its aquatic habitat it also requires scrub or woodland, which provides important roosting and feeding sites.

Zenaida auriculata (Eared dove / Tórtola torcaza)
The Eared Dove is a resident breeder throughout South America from Colombia to southern Argentina. It is a close relative of the North American Mourning Dove. The head has a grey crown, black line behind the eye, and the blue-black on the lower ear coverts. These black markings give the species its English and specific name.

One more from the fence line marking the boundary of the woodland at Whiteleaf, Buckinghamshire. Taken at the start of the month there has been not a smidge of mist! Still, it was a good session that morning.

The Slow Melt.....
The first really warm day in nearly five months found us traversing the back woods in search of some wonderful spring shots. in the north end of White Spruce Park
the trails in the furthest edges of the park still had some snow on the trials but most of it had melted in the recent warm
temperatures.

Simha is beautiful all over, but the white markings on his paws, chest and belly make him even more beautiful. However, the most outstanding part of his body is his amazing amber eyes.

I think this is either a small milkweed bug or a scarlet plant bug, although the color pattern and markings don't quite match the images of either of these bugs. This was on goldenrod in my summer garden. Can anyone provide a positive ID?
The male has iridescent green tuffs on its head. Was hard to get them to show up, as they tended to photograph as black. Very cute little duck.
Lions are my favorites of the big cats. They like to hunt, fight, play, love, bond and, unfortunately, sleep. Males are protective of their territory and leave a message at the proverbial post office, whenever they pass by. It was fun watching even young males stop by the post office and check the mail, even if they didn’t leave their own personal scent message. This big guy checked the post office for messages and left one of his own. (Panther leo) (Sony a1, 70-200mm lens @ 121mm, f/5, 1/500 second, ISO 640)
A Giraffe having a rest - - I think this is the Reticulated Giraffe based on its markings - - location doesn't help in this case because this is a group of giraffes being re-introduced into the Senegal area
