The Hawker 400 is a small twin-engine corporate aircraft, designed by Raytheon's Beech Aircraft Company subsidiary, now part of Hawker Beechcraft.

The aircraft was originally designed as the Mitsubishi MU-300 Diamond, an all-new, all-jet development to complement and slot above the Mitsubishi MU-2 and provide Mitsubishi Heavy Industries with their top-of-the-line corporate aircraft model (hence the name "Diamond")[1]. Beechcraft bought the production rights and began manufacturing it as their own model, initially redesignated as the Beechjet 400. The Beechjet 400 was certified by the FAA in May 1985.

Raytheon/Beechcraft steadily developed their own improvements to the model, leading to the 400A in 1990. Improvements in the 400A include longer range, higher take-off weights and improved luxury appointments. An all-glass flight deck was also offered. Beechcraft also developed a version for the United States Air Force known as the T-1A Jayhawk, used as a trainer for large aircraft crews (such as tankers and strategic transports). A total of 180 T-1A trainers were delivered between 1992-1997. Another military variant is the Japan Air Self-Defense Force T-400 trainer which shares the same Type Certificate as the T-1A.[2]

In 1993 Raytheon purchased the Hawker business jet product line from British Aerospace. The Beechjet 400 was eventually renamed the Hawker 400 to map it into the Hawker product line. The Hawker 400XP incorporates further aerodynamic, mechanical and interior improvements gleaned from the Hawker 800XP.

In October 2008, Hawker Beechcraft announced upgrades to the design, resulting in the new model designation Hawker 450XP.[citation needed] Upgrades include new, more fuel efficient engines (Pratt & Whitney PW535D models with 2,965 pounds of thrust apiece) Collins Pro Line 21 avionics and Collins Venue cabin management/entertainment system and a complete interior upgrade.[

the budgie, is a small, long-tailed, seed-eating parrot. Budgerigars are the only species in the Australian genus Melopsittacus, and are found wild throughout the drier parts of Australia where the species has survived harsh inland conditions for the last five million years.[2] Budgerigars are naturally green and yellow with black, scalloped markings on the nape, back, and wings, but have been bred in captivity with colouring in blues, whites, and yellows, greys, and even small crests. Budgerigars are popular pets around the world due to their small size, low cost, ability to mimic human speech, and playful nature.

On February 19th, we held a ceremony marking the return of the Nisei Soldier Congressional Gold Medal to Washington, D.C., after its seven-city tour. It is the highest civilian award in the United States.

The Congressional Gold Medal was awarded to the 100th Infantry Battalion, the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and the Military Intelligence Service veterans by the U.S. Congress Nov. 2, 2011, in recognition of their exceptional service, sacrifice and loyalty to America. It will be displayed from Feb. 19 to June 1 on the third floor in the east wing of the museum. Later this year, when a space has been constructed, the medal will be on display in the “Price of Freedom” exhibition.

In spite of forced incarceration and rampant wartime prejudice, more than 33,000 second-generation Japanese Americans (nisei) volunteered to serve in the U.S. Army during World War II. Of those, 19,000 served in the 100th Infantry Battalion, 442nd Regimental Combat Team and the Military Intelligence Service, where they proved their loyalty to America and became the most decorated unit of its size in U.S. military history.

Ford Motor Company Fund returned as sole sponsor of the NAACP Hollywood Bureau Symposium, marking its 10th year with the title “Moving Forward: The State of the Industry.” The annual event was held Thursday, Feb. 20, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles. The event was free to the public.

A portion of Ford’s sponsorship will be directed to support community programs, including a $10,000 grant to Duke Media Foundation.

Last year, the film entertainment industry set a record with box office receipts totaling $11 billion. Black filmmakers, including an increased number of black film directors and actors starring in lead roles, as well as gripping feature films and moving historical pieces all played a role in this unprecedented success.

“Ford is proud to be working again with the NAACP Hollywood Bureau Symposium to showcase a renaissance in black film at all levels,” said Pamela Alexander, director of community development, Ford Motor Company Fund. “We congratulate the award-winning Bill Duke and Duke Media Foundation for their work in developing media and financial literacy programs to prepare inner-city and gifted high school students for the new digital media age.”

The event focused on whether this newfound success was due to a broader industry trend or the achievement of a new stronghold for blacks in the film industry. More than 300 people including Hollywood entertainers, NAACP board members, members of the NAACP Image Awards’ committee and television academy, as well as film and television students from local colleges and universities convened for this event. They also engaged in the question and answer session by directly addressing the panel participants with various inquiries. All panelists encourage aspiring artists to persevere and learn to perfect their craft.

Panel participants included humanitarian/activist/director Bill Duke, CAA agent Cameron Mitchell, senior vice president of production for Columbia Tristar Pictures Devon Franklin, and author and producer Flo McAfee. Ramsey Jay Jr., nationally renowned writer, interviewer and producer, served as panel moderator.

The Hollywood Bureau Symposium was one of several popular events held during Image Awards week. The 45th NAACP Image Awards aired Saturday, Feb. 22, from 9 to 11 p.m. on TV One. Check local listings for encore broadcasts.

Temporary film-plane modification of the Koroll 24 camera that I previously used in week 132 of my 52 film cameras in 52 weeks project:

52cameras.blogspot.com/

www.flickr.com/photos/tony_kemplen/collections/72157623113584240

I liberally applied sellotape in overlapping criss-cross strips at the film plane.

As the name suggests, this model manages to squeeze 24 exposures out of a roll of 120 film, by using a mask to make the image size 3cm x 4cm. The edges of the film are wasted, but by using the "12 frame" backing paper markings twice, 24 exposures are made.

I removed the mask, so the full width of the film is exposed, and the frames overlap, but if a full frame is desired, the film can simply be advanced twice.

The film was expired Fujichrome Provia ISO400 slide film, which I cross processed in Tetenal C41 chemistry.

Stockholm is extremely bike friendly. These sysmbols, painted on the bike paths, are everywhere. They also indicate the bike traffic directions. In places where bikes go both directions on the same path, two of these will be painted side-by-side but one will be flipped in the other direction. For reference, the wheel on these bikes is apprximately 18 inches in diameter. You might notce that the bicyclists sometimes ride out of the lanses, especially ner these symbols. It's because these painted-on bikes as about a half an inch thick so the cyclist are avoinding the bumps.

I have never seen a condor before. I have wanted to see one for quite a long while. Big Sur (and Pinncacles) are two of the few places you can see these huge birds.

I realize he is far away: but I don't care. I was so happy to see him at all.

He was very slow moving. Near him was a turkey vulture, also flying around. The condor looked to be twice the size of the turkey vulture but flew at one-half the speed.

Slow, huge. Far away. Some day I will see you closer, condor!

Properly marking the floor of a plant or facility can help prevent accidents and improve efficiency by clearly marking storage areas and equipment or walking paths. Brady’s ToughStripe pre-spaced floor marking dashes make it easy to lay straight, evenly spaced lines without a machine applicator. This requires less manpower for set-up and maintenance and the pre-spaced floor marking dashes are already formatted to ensure consistent spacing and look.

Tigers mark their territory by spraying urine and a fowl smelling fluid from their anal glands on trees. The naturalist Sunil and I were following fresh pug-marks of a tigress and her cub along a path, after a 100 meters or so the marks vanished from road so we were waiting near a pond hoping they would come for a drink. After 15 mins or so when we were starting to loose hope, a Langur started shouting with alarm call revealing presence of a cat nearby, after a while, about 200 ft behind our car, a huge male tiger came out of thick bush. I used to think as tigers are yellow-black striped, how can they be camouflaged in green bushes, over time I realized tiger skin is exactly designed to match thick bushes which are 'tiger coloured!' as seen here. After marking territory, he came towards the pond, sub-merged his back in to water, some drink and slowly disappeared in to thick bush cover again.
