Porsche came up with a unique new car that stands on its own in the model lineup.
In broad strokes it takes its place among
German flagship sedans
such as the BMW 750i, the Mercedes-Benz S550, and the Audi A8, but the Panamera 4S's sport handling makes those other cars look like stately luxo-barges.
Of course, the fastback design of the Panamera also puts it in its own class. Yes, that is a full hatchback at the rear providing a tall luggage area
--
a strange hint of practicality in such a pricey vehicle.
Laminated birch stools designed by Marke Niskala, graduate of the Finnish Arts and Crafts Institute, 1953. The stool was sold in its three constituent parts for ease of packing. It locks together firmly, even without the tongues being glued.
Shown at the 'Modern Art in Finland' exhibition which toured Great Britain in 1954 after a first showing in Scotland.

Yvan Theys (Marke, 1936 - Warcoing, 2005) was a Belgian painter, draftsman, graphic artist and sculptor. His early work is abstract. His work is influenced by the Cobra group and in the 1960s he was one of the founders of the new figuration, a movement that seeks a new vision on the relationship between abstraction and figuration. As a sculptor, he created expressionist painted wooden sculptures. In his later visual language, the human figures become increasingly twisted and fragmented, while the psychic charge becomes more explicit.
This work can be admired at the Middelheim campus of the University of Antwerp.

For those without comedic tastes, the so-called experts at Wikipedia have an article about Daily Mail.
“I've always been a Daily Mail reader. I prefer it to a newspaper”
~ Oscar Wilde on The Daily Mail
Often referred to as "Fascism with Oven Gloves on" The Daily Wail, also known variously as The Daily Hate, The Daily Heil, The Daily Bile, The Daily Hate Mail, The Fascist Manifesto and The Daily Fail is a hugely popular British comic for those who believe themselves (usually mistakenly) to be members of the middle classes.
In 2010 it was also the UK's best selling brand of toilet paper. It is owned by Associated Newspapers, the same media group responsible for the Mail on Sunday and The Metro.
A pair of rose-tinted spectacles must be worn to read articles in the Daily Mail, which describe how everything was great in the 1950s before the Islamic Conquest and the introduction of drugs, fat women, asylum seekers, paedophiles, Jonathan Ross, Russell Brand, the homeless, Brown people and the invention of sex made daily life intolerable for the conservative middle-class Chelsea tractor driving mums and retired army colonels that inhabit these sceptred isles.
The Mail was first issued on 4 May 1896.
The headline on the first edition was 'The British Union of Fascists: Our Patriotic Angels!'. "
"Hurrah for the Blackshirts" www.voiceoftheturtle.org/dictionary/dict_h1.php
" A famous example of the Daily Mail's longstanding commitment to impeccably balanced and unbiased coverage of controversial political events. This headline appeared on the front page of the 8 July 1934 edition, and accompanied a piece on Sir Oswald Mosley's British Union of Fascists that read, in part: "If the Blackshirts movement had any need of justification, the Red Hooligans who savagely and systematically tried to wreck Sir Oswald Mosley's huge and magnificently successful meeting at Olympia last night would have supplied it."
Subsequent articles emphasised the paper's unstinting support -- on 15 January 1934, the BUF was described as "a well organised party of the right ready to take over responsibility for national affairs with the same directness of purpose and energy of method as Hitler and Mussolini have displayed".
This betrays the paper's similar enthusiasm for Fascist parties elsewhere in Europe, especially Adolf Hitler's burgeoning Nazi movement ("The sturdy young Nazis are Europe's guardians against the Communist danger"). As early as 24 September 1930, the paper's proprietor Harold Harmsworth, Lord Rothermere, wrote:
"These young Germans have discovered, as I am glad to note the young men and women of England are discovering, that it is no good trusting to the old politicians. Accordingly they have formed, as I would like to see our British youth form, a Parliamentary party of their own. [...] The older generation of Germans were our enemies. Must we make enemies of this younger generation too?"
On 10 July 1933, Rothermere continued:
"I urge all British young men and women to study closely the progress of the Nazi regime in Germany. They must not be misled by the misrepresentations of its opponents. The most spiteful distracters of the Nazis are to be found in precisely the same sections of the British public and press as are most vehement in their praises of the Soviet regime in Russia. They have started a clamorous campaign of denunciation against what they call "Nazi atrocities" which, as anyone who visits Germany quickly discovers for himself, consists merely of a few isolated acts of violence such as are inevitable among a nation half as big again as ours, but which have been generalized, multiplied and exaggerated to give the impression that Nazi rule is a bloodthirsty tyranny."
These effusive compliments did not go unnoticed. On 7 December 1933, Hitler himself wrote to Rothermere:
"I should like to express the appreciation of countless Germans, who regard me as their spokesman, for the wise and beneficial public support which you have given to a policy that we all hope will contribute to the enduring pacification of Europe. Just as we are fanatically determined to defend ourselves against attack, so do we reject the idea of taking the initiative in bringing about a war. I am convinced that no one who fought in the front trenches during the world war, no matter in what European country, desires another conflict."
The above citations, plus numerous similar articles that ran right through the 1930s, may explain why the Mail has been oddly and indeed uncharacteristically muted when it comes to championing its glorious past, especially at a time when its rivals are falling over themselves to produce "historic" reprints of memorable editions from decades earlier. " While it was in 1978 that The Sun initially overtook the Daily Mirror in terms of circulation, it was during MacKenzie's spell as editor that The Sun firmly established itself as the biggest selling newspaper in Britain. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelvin_MacKenzie
It was MacKenzie who cemented the paper's image as a right-wing tabloid, not only greatly increasing its circulation and dramatically heightening its profile, but also making it infamous in the eyes of the British public for its attacks on left-wing political figures and movements and its sensationalist front-page celebrity "exposes", which frequently turned out to be misleading or outright false, with MacKenzie presiding over many of the biggest controversies in the paper's history.
Critics accused the paper of exaggerating or even inventing news stories under MacKenzie (on some occasions this was proven to be the case[2]) and of severely dumbing down public discourse.
The paper was frequently accused of promoting jingoism, racism, homophobia, and intolerance.[2]
However, MacKenzie is quoted as saying in the early 1980s (on the subject of how he perceived his target audience and how he approached journalism):
You just don't understand the readers, do you, eh? He's the bloke you see in the pub, a right old fascist, wants to send the wogs back, buy his poxy council house, he's afraid of the unions, afraid of the Russians, hates the queers and the weirdos and drug dealers. He doesn't want to hear about that stuff (serious news).
—[5]
MacKenzie has also stated that he feels that his own spell as editor of The Sun had a "positively downhill impact on journalism".[1] Numerous observers, including ex-Sun deputy editor Roy Greenslade and left-wing journalist John Pilger, have commented more seriously on the alleged 'Murdoch effect' – and more specifically about what they see as the negative effect of the Sun during the MacKenzie era – on British journalism, political climate, British culture and society at large. Füllsystem: Kapillar-Füller, später auch Patronen
Produktionszeitraum: 1956-82
Material Schaft: Kunststoff Spritzguss
Material Kappe: Rostfreier Stahl, mattiert
