The Welsh Marches. Shrewsbury.
This is Castle Gates House, Shrewsbury, a Grade !!* Listed 16th century house that was moved here in 1702, although it has been updated and extended, with a substantial restoration around 1912. The fact that is was moved (from a quarter of a mile away) is of no really great note as such wooden buildings were assembled on site from parts fabricated elsewhere. In this case the owner decided that he wanted to remain where he was on Dogpole, but to have a more solid brick building, but did not want to have the older structure destroyed. It stands at the end of the driveway/path leading to the castle.

Here's a shot of one of the crocuses that were growing in my yard at the start of March. This is a crop from a horizontal shot. I've been away from Flickr for a couple of months and hadn't posted this at the time, so I decided to add it to my photostream today.

"In friendship's fragrant garden,
There are flowers of every hue.
Each with its own fair beauty
And its gift of joy for you."
The church is famous for its beautiful double hammer beam angel roof, the donors of which are reputed to be William and Alice Dredeman about the year 1500.

I lucked out and caught a glimpse of this little guy who decided to hang out long enough for me to come out with camera and grab a quick shot.
Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

Norio demands either food or attention. Or both. Or he wanted to go out. Regardless, this was taken in our kitchen in California in March of 2006. Now, he spends most of his time napping and eating the snacks I give him.
Mayapple! Native plant restoration, in...
Clyde Shepherd Nature Preserve
DeKalb County (Medlock Park), Georgia, USA.
14 March 2023.
▶ See the plant in blossom: here.

▶ "Podophyllum peltatum is an herbaceous woodland plant in the family Berberidaceae —with common names of mayapple, American mandrake, wild mandrake, and ground lemon— widespread across most of the eastern United States and southeastern Canada.
The stems grow to 30–40 cm (12 in to 16 in) tall, with leaves up to 8 inches in diameter (20–40 cm) with 3–9 deeply cut lobes. The flowers are white, yellow or red, 1-2 inches in diameter (2–6 cm) with 6–9 petals, and mature into a green, yellow, or red fleshy fruit 1 -2 inches long (2–5 cm). All the parts of the plant are poisonous, including the green fruit, but once the fruit has turned yellow, it can be safely eaten, as the ripe fruit does not produce toxicity."

▶ "Last year [2022], we introduced Mayapple to one of the areas [in Clyde Shepherd Nature Preserve] we have been restoring with sheep. Exciting to see it popping up. When we started, this area was wildly overgrown with English ivy. Now, it is supporting native plants.

My first ever photo of a Hare and by the looks of him he's been in the wars. Probably hurt his eye boxing with another Hare in the springtime scuffles.
Unfortunately I don't know who wrote this, but I would love to be able to credit this person for their well written words:
Women are marching because our children deserve a secretary of education that cares about education.
Women are marching because our family and friends deserve healthcare. Did you know that before the ACA, newborns in the NICU would hit their lifetime caps on health insurance coverage. That's right, Babies who had never felt the sun on their skin could no longer get health insurance.
Women are marching BECAUSE abortion rates are actually the LOWEST in decades, because women get preventive healthcare and contraception.
Women are marching because domestic violence crisis centers and after school programs deserve funding.
Women are marching because we deserve clean air, clean water, and national parks.
Women are marching because we believe the children protected by the DREAM act deserve to be here and they deserve to live with their parents, not in orphanages and foster homes.
And most of all, women are marching because we have the right to. The right to protest and speak out against our government is the first amendment. That's right, #1! It is one of our most fundamental American rights.
Saying that we're whining, throwing temper tantrums, or that we're immature, or that we need to get over it will not stop us. It will not stop us from fighting for you. And we are fighting for you because you deserve these rights too.
We're not marching because Trump won.
We're marching because he wants to take all of the things that we hold dear away. All of the things that we've been fighting for generations.
And we're not giving up easily.
Anyone who thinks we're marching because we lost just simply isn't listening. We're fighting because we refuse to lose more.
A River Lapwing (Vanellus duvaucelii) was steadily moving in its natural habitat in a muddy island of the river Ganges. The surrounding young grasses and a hint of blue sky made a charming ambience. My Nikon Prime Tele made a full justice of its reputation by making a champion smooth Bokeh of the surrounding. I was crawling in the muddy low land to make that low angle and managed to frame it below its eye level. The reward was this beautiful composition with a hint of everything of the ambience. Pics was taken from Burdwan, West Bengal, India.
