Sunset at Cape Bonavista

It is a long long way to go! Shot through the window of the bus which ran on the bridge above the road.

Despite the cooler temperatures and gloomy skies, I've been told today is the first day of spring so I figured that's a great idea for a photo, bring a little spring inside and brighten up the day.

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

Sock was not too impressed that his dinner was delayed while I took his photo, which made for an amusing expression from him while he was relaxing in the afternoon sunshine.

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

Buckstones

A bit of a tricky shot as I was facing more or less into the bright winter sun. Taken from just off the A640 at Buckstones, looking out across Marsden Moor and March Haigh Reservoir. The reservoir stands at 1092 feet above sea level and is in the Kirklees district of West Yorkshire.

Marsden Moor is managed by the National Trust. Devastating fires destroyed the landscape and wildlife this year, the biggest fire was in April, it damaged 700 hectares of moorland and took four days to put out.

The fires caused widespread devastation to this landscape. National Trust members and local people have so far raised over £100,000 towards repairing the damage.

According to the National Trust web site.

Although it looks like much of the grass has already grown back on the moor, the damage is deep and long lasting. The moor’s lost its diverse range of plants which help support the rare birds and mountain hares that live there. Important peat soils have been scorched and destroyed, the front line in the battle against climate change. This peat will take hundreds if not thousands of years to recover.

Thank you for your visit and your comments, they are greatly appreciated.

The moon was watching the crossing of the Salmon River trestle by CN train 121. A beautiful March afternoon with plenty of snow highlighted the Canadian countryside at Drummond, New Brunswick.

Market in Orchhâ

Orchha (India) - Contrary to popular belief, it is very difficult to photograph a colorful market in bright sunlight. When we witness a scene like the one shown in the photo above, we tend to think “chic, just aim and shoot”. Fault ! If you don't think for a moment and wait for the jolt of the scene to organize itself a bit in your viewfinder, the shot will inevitably be missed. You can't always leave it to luck.

Without going into a decryption of this photo which illustrates an anarchic scene, I think it has a minimum of readability. The many actors in this scene, despite themselves, managed to organize themselves into my setting. But I had to let myself be forgotten and be a little patient.

It is a little contrasted for my taste, but the sun was quite high in the sky. Some will see only the colors that characterize India, but for me it mainly reflects a certain harmony in the bustle.

"Missing springtime is like missing a woman. You never really noticed her and then she was gone, and all that she was returns and makes the separation even more painful.

I think I read this somewhere. "Springtime is the land awakening. The March winds are the morning yawn."

- Lewis Grizzard

Although this photo was taken in April second, atmosphere in this nature was precisely March.

Another month has slipped by so quickly, and it is time to say farewell to March!

Here in the north of Scotland it has been a month of transition, sometimes still in winter, and then a welcome glimpse of Spring. Our Spring marker is the plum tree by the gate ... when it blossoms we feel like winter is (amost) past!

The world around us is in turmoil, but the mundane Spring cleaning - both inside and in the garden - provide our daily canvas to paint on 😊

And the Flickr challenges together with my pursuit of what catches my eye from the minimal to the decorative keep me happily playing with lenses and cameras. We are hoping for weather that will tempt us outdoors more, there are landscapes and seascapes to visit and revisit in the warmer months!

As ever - many thanks to everyone who has visited my photostream and for the comments and faves.
