Nick is working on building a new city to have his new LARP in, and he asked (very nicely) me to do the map of the city. Here is the "final" version, though there may still be some edits to be done.

This is a smaller version of the high-resolution one, as I didn't feel like putting that monster up here on flickr.

Yay for fake cartography!

.It is a good time to go to Luxor now, and always good to have a map for orientation on the hand...

Since good maps are to be found difficult sometimes, I start a new map-project,

The maps are not yet ready, and if you find mistakes let me know, I need your help.

But enjoy this maps, print them out and take them with you, so that you know where you shot your photos....

Map made by a friend versus official/tourist map

This hand drawn sketch is one of a collection of my visual thinking artifacts.

mapped using QGIS 2.18.10, base locations from Wikipedia. Shows all bases, some of which are no longer used, or are summer-only.

I watched "The Thing" the other day... Norwegian bases are nowhere near the American bases. They're on the other side of the continent. :-)

Used Python to generate the 10 degree lines of latitude and longitude, as print composer grids don't work too well with Polar projections like this one.

Population density measures the number of persons per square kilometer of land area. The data are gridded at a resolution of 30 arc-seconds.

One of the features that we tried for a while with our maps was the ability to enable multiple layers on the same map. The markers on the map would be of either colour or appear stacked.

This was intended to allow users to discover areas that have a good mix of data points, such as lively tourist areas with lots of attractions and restaurants together.

From the Sacramento Bee. I live right below where I-80 and I-5 intersect. It looks like I'll be under 8-16 feet of water should the levees break. So much for the glories of a first floor apartment.

From either NY 23 or Elm Road. As NY 23 is a shorter drive, and the elevation climb is slower, I prefer NY 23 by far. Adobe PDF: andyarthur.org/img/full/maps.windham/media7747.pdf
