Jezz, Charlie and Dan setting up for another run

Our team made this installation for Design Museum Helsinki.

Poor mental mapping. While the red/blue colors make use of the common trope of red = hot/blue = cold, it may be that somebody unfamiliar with this trope would not inherently understand that red corresponds to hot water, and blue corresponds to cold water. Moreover, the user cannot understand from the design that the hot water comes from a water heater. They might think that the farther he/she turns the nob, the hotter the water gets. But this is not necessarily the case. Often, in the morning especially, it's actually the longer the water runs, the hotter it gets. Also, this facade does not tell the user that if he/she drops something valuable down the drain, that it will get caught in the u-trap, and that it might still be recoverable.

Here is one of those multi-tip pens, where you can choose from 4 different tips. Unlike most of those types of pens, which have four levers to pull down, corresponding to each pen tip, there's only one lever. I had to read the directions to figure this pen out. Along the top, there are four icons representing 4 different tips. Shown here is the tip corresponding to the 0.5 mm mechanical pencil. Apparently, to choose a tip, you rotate the pen so the icon representing the tip you want is facing you, and then pull the lever down.
