Another low quality photograph, showing the Arboretum area of Nottingham, occupied by Nottingham Polytechnic, or Nottingham Trent University as it had recently been restyled. Viewed from Mapperley Ridge.

The Hollys, Mapperley Top.

My previous residence a few years ago.

The unused and now decaying chapel at the old Mapperley Hospital (Asylum). I understand the building was bought by the property developer of the adjoining apartments and that the plan was to convert it into a community leisure centre. It's sat empty for years.

Mapperley Colliery Branch 1988 Back in the days when a Ford 4000 and a Howard 150 Rotaspreader were still considered front-line equipment. This was the scene where I had just spread the manure stored on the old Mapperley Colliery Branch

Not strictly speaking a photo that Flickr was designed for, but an image of the old 1915 OS Map that shows the position of the items in the Nottingham Brickworks photos posted earlier.

During the disruptions during the snow, 25 was only running to Mapperley, when 602 arrived as a 25B, it was decided that the 25 would go to Arnold via Woodthorpe Drive & Mansfield Road, a slight dest error made for a very unusual photo!

Last few from DWT Mapperley Woods.

An example of neglect in the former hospital chapel.

Mapperley Colliery Branch May 1990 I am fetching the herd in for Evening milking in 1990 walking down the former branch to Mapperley Colliery that closed in about 1965 and was converted into a road during the late 70s to transport coal from the opencast site around Mapperley Colliery and the land between there and Bell Lane running from Smalley to Shipley. When the opencast finished we used it as an access road for the farm animals and vehicles. View is looking East towards the former junction with the Midland Railway branch from Stanton Gate to Shipley

South facing, looking towards Nottingham and beyond, what were once wards at the former Mapperley Hospital have been converted into luxury apartments.

Notice how the chapel stands out amongst all the refurbished brickwork of the converted former hospital wards.

Looking up, the stairwell that still leads to the former chapel. Notice how the whole area has become encrusted with dried pigeon droppings.

Building a new Somerfield at the top of Woodthorpe Dr. Isn't it amazing how things are coming full circle, the big supermarkets abandonding the high street for their big superstores, now realising that people like me or can't dont want to go out of their way to go food shopping. Sainsbury's lost my custom when they left the Broad Marsh centre.

Having been a volutary worker at Mapperley Hospital, looking at the above illustration, the ward right at the top was Belvior Ward.

I've done a comparison of Fujifilm BW film simulations. This is Monochrome with a red filter. I took this photo in Nottingham's Mapperley Park, which is a tree conservation area.

The new Mapperley Plains School – the new wind turbine

The Mapperley Plains Primary School was built as a direct replacement for the older 1913 school a hundred yards away. The new site has been designed to be ecologically friendly and has a number of impressive features. The new wind turbine generates a portion of the schools energy needs.

There is also a rainwater recycling system using filtered rainwater to flush the toilets. The building also has a heat exchange system which circulates air around the school
