Beechwood, 30A Mapperley Road, Nottingham (1904) on the corner of Park Avenue, designed by the architects Watson Fothergill and Lawrence Summers..

Long-tailed Tit / aegithalos caudatus. Mapperley Wood, Derbys. 02/01/15. I spent an enjoyable time yesterday making some images of LTT's, albeit in extremely windy conditions. I think this image shows just how wild it was, deep in the wood.

I learnt something too, which is that these birds have tiny yellow eyelids. I've watched birds all my life and never noticed this feature before!

Long-tailed Tit / aegithalos caudatus. Mapperley Wood, Derbys. 02/01/15. A flock of nine birds favoured the area and were a delight to watch. They maintained tiny contact calls even when close together feeding and one or two kept lookout for the rest of the flock. As quickly as they arrived, so they moved on. Really busy little birds that are constantly on the go.

Found on the east side entrance path. Best viewed in a large resolution.
