The clouds parted for a little while this afternoon and I was able to get a photo.
The photo, of the Oliver Bridge, shows the relationship of the upper (rail) deck and lower (road) deck. It's a landmark dating from 1916, and in their own way so are the locomotives on the head end of the train. An SD75/C44-9W pair is kind of uncommon in the day of the GEVO. The bridge still sees many trains each day.
NS 1068 is in charge of the Formosa Plastics manifest, MEWFO 04, seen dragging out of Englewood Yard down the Strang Sub. The train would pull down to Tower 86 to receive its outbound crew.
After shooting UP 1982 leading in Spring, I quickly made my way back into the terminal to see if I could get anything of this train. With afternoon shadows taking over, the only decent place I could find was here at the Market St. crossing in the Fifth Ward. Nonetheless, two back-to-back heritage leaders ain't too shabby; bonus points here with fresh UP 7270 trailing.

A cold front came through today clearing up the skies for a while and blowing like crazy. It was in the low 20's with a wind chill of 5 above when I shot this manifest southbound at Munger on the Rainy Sub. After I uploaded the shot I noticed that I caught a backseat driver without even knowing it.
The Cloverdale CPL stands guard at the southern end of the siding in Cloverdale, VA as manifest NS 11Z blasts by. The beautiful Virginian heritage unit leads the extremely short freight into Roanoke as a crowd of at least 12 people get their shots.

The Southern Pacific Transportation Company had just over two months of independence remaining when this lumber drag was climbing the grade to Tunnel 17 near Dorris. It was nice to catch a clean Rio on the point, even if its light package had been lobotomized.
The appearance of DRGW 5354 begs the question of what looked worse - Rio Grande units that received SP-style numberboards with Espee's Roman font, or SP units that received DRGW-style numberboards with the standard Rio Grande gothic font.
Challenging myself as usual. I nearly always have difficulty creating symmetry on these type of rotation shots and tonight was no exception. Happy to be messing around in the conservatory whilst the wind and rain is coming down outside.

La manifestation à Paris place de la République a été bloquée par la police, les manifestants sont donc restés place de la République toute l'après-midi.
