Notes: Francis Bedford was best known for his photographs, but his first known works are lithographs and architectural drawings exhibited at the Royal Academy in the 1840s. He became widely regarded as a master of the chromo-lithographic process. He turned exclusively to photography, with the intent to aid himself in his lithographic work, around 1851. His book, The Treasury of Ornamental Art (1858), has been described as "probably the first important English work where photography was called into play to assist the draughtsman." Bedford began to pursue the creative aspects of photography as well. He received three commissions from Queen Victoria, the most important being the official photographer to the Prince of Wales' tour of the Middle East in 1862. Prince Albert and Queen Victoria played a leading role in supporting England's arts, sciences, and manufacturing with their patronage. In 1854 Queen Victoria and Prince Albert commissioned Bedford to photograph art objects in the Royal Collection...a huge task. Bedford, who had taken up photography as a tool for accurate rendering of objects, soon began to investigate its creative aspects, and this led him to taking landscape pictures. He received many commissions from the Queen and Prince to travel and take pictures of certain places. He excelled in the craft.

Today I had the pleasure of touring the Makers Mark distillery in Lorreto, KY. Makers has long been my favorite bourbon and it was so neat to tour the facility that has filled my glass more times than I'd like to admit! I learned a ton and got some fun shots even though it was very rainy. This truck was in a barn on the grounds.
The whole place, funnily enough, reminded me of a Disney Park. The grounds are beautiful and quaint and there are lots of fun details like old timey phones that you can hear conversations on and hanging framed pictures of the Samuels family that talk about the history of the farm. There are colorful and historic buildings in pristine condition, babbling brooks, cobbled stone walls, and bourbon....lots and lots of bourbon.
