After 3 hours in the hot tub time machine, it's almost dissolved as much as it did after 12 hours sitting in a cup of room temp water: www.flickr.com/photos/tbuser/6731117231/in/photostream

Printed on my Thing-O-Matic; designed by zgbot.
I covered the outside in copper foil.
1/4 of heatbed is visible here, you can see that in temperature in corner is about 10°C lower then in center :-) Temps are not precise, since the heatbed doesn't have right coating for precise measurements, but the relative difference should remain same.

This is a harder thing to scan because it's only 150mm tall. The glasses on the kinect makes a nice improvement!
Problem is, ReconstructMe has a real hard time getting a 360 degree scan. I was only able to get half the gnome scanned. With better calibration I'm hoping this will get better.
Still not as good as spinscan :) www.flickr.com/photos/tbuser/6784472542/in/photostream
How do you make a great idea like Makerbot-printed buttons better? Make them LEGO COMPATIBLE! (Naturally.)
See www.thingiverse.com/thing:1005 for the source.
This is part of a makerbot-printable dremel based milling machine I designed for the make/makerbot giveaway contest. This picture gives a good view of the dovetail joint the lies at the heart of each axis. Even though the print warped, the joint still slides smoothly and with very little looseness fresh off the makerbot.
Laying down plastic on layers of fiberglass tape and cheese cloth.
The fiberglass tape gives strength and keeps things from slipping around. The cheese cloth pillows it up so the plastic can inject better around the strands.
I got some exhaust wrap to replace the white ceramic tape insulation on my nozzle. (the ceramic tape is annoying and falls appart easily, this stuff is easily re-usable) So I figured I'd try to use some to insulate my heated platform. Seems to work nice, interestingly the thermistor is now reporting a 5-10 degree higher than the top of the platform. This exhaust wrap is like a high temp fabric, so I sewed some together and attached it to my platform with bent paper clips and made a blanket to lay on top to heat it up faster and keep it warm.
Found Exhaust Wrap at Advanced Auto Parts for $32 for a roll 1" wide and 50 feet long:
