Both 0.2 layer height. Cup on left non-accelerated at 35 mm/s feedrate. Cup on right Rob Gisburt's accelerated firmware at 100 mm/s feedrate.

Cup on right doesn't have the textured pattern and is smoother, but more opaque and shiny like a pearl.

I just remembered I may have printed the one on the left at 220C and the one on the right at 210C. That might account for the opacity difference...

I scaled up the classic Zaggo whistle V2 as large as I could fit on the build platform: www.thingiverse.com/thing:1046

Took six hours to print and weights 74.1 grams. Call it $3.56 :-)

Works you don't have to blow hard, but you do need a lot of air. Makes a hooting sound, kinda.

119mm long not counting the loop for the lanyard, and the mouth is 55.5mm wide.

It was crowded and therefore somewhat difficult to get a picture of all of our bots working at once.

Makerbot in the FabLab

This is what happens on 3D printer when the item being printed falls over.

I'm really surprised reconstructme was able to make out the fingers so well!

Data Matrix bar code goes to my website tonybuser.com This shows top and bottom of single object printed simultaneously with dual extruders. Yes, quality kinda sucks at the moment with dual extrusion... but it's mostly a software problem to work out how best to keep nozzles from drooling between colors, skeinforge bugs with internal objects causing bad perimeter/infill, and there's a bug that causes the top layer not to print... living on the edge!

The Makerbot printed me some lens hoods. Yay!

This is a device that allows a Makerbot (or other cnc machine) to draw/print/cut on cylindrical or spherical objects, in the manner of the EMS EggBot (http://egg-bot.com/). It works by connecting one of the machine's axises to a stepper motor, which then turns the workpiece.

Getting ready to print tonight.

Just testing the frosting printer...
