Unfortunately can’t really pose her looking through it.

When I was in Seattle for PAX, I went to a party for the newest Magic: The Gathering release. While I was there, the nice people from Wizards of the Coast gave me a few cards that I guess nobody else in the world outside of WotC had. This is one of them, an insanely awesome card that is apparently super duper ultra double secret rare.

This card has all those nifty holographic foil thingies all over it, and it looks beautiful when the light hits it just right. This picture doesn't capture that at all, unfortunately.

You know, she's kind of a modest medusa.

They're, uh... collectors...

N.E.R.D. Week - Day 3

Everyone knows Nerds tend to collect things often. And while it may see like we do so because we just can't get enough of that one particular thing, but it's beyond that.

Truth #3: When Nerds reach a certain age, they're forced to collect objects in one particular field of interest. They then harvest that interest and use it as their life force until they get old enough to learn to survive without it. Basically, we need it to live.

Day 3 of N.E.R.D. Week has arrived. And while you see here, my wonderful collection of DVDs and video games (it's not all I have, mind you), we mustn't forget about all the other collections Nerds possess out there. Ranging from Star Wars to World of Warcraft to Magic: The Gathering, the list can go on and on.

But it shouldn't be deemed unusual. A simple collection -- like teddy bears or ceramic mugs -- could be seen as obsessive, but it's not, and neither should anyone else's. Collect what you love, just as long as it's legal.

Bonus points for anyone who can spot Leonard Part 6 in the pile. Minus points for knowing what the cover looks like, though.

כּוּשׁ transliterated into English as Cush or Kush, a name meaning black; terror in ancient Hebrew. I started out just designing a forest card (inspired by John Avon’s Art of course) but adding the figure made me reconsider the colors and composition of the piece.

I made these cookies for my husband's D&D group (who are mostly also Magic players). They called me a "cookie goddess." I think I can live with that.

6/20/11 Vanilla cake is GREEN with buttercream and coconut filling, topped with buttercream icing. Edible image is custom designed for Ryan. Chad does a great job in photoshop. He added the pile of skulls and cake as well as customizing the card wording. M&Ms and sprinkles adorn the borders.
