Look What Duncan Hines and Crisco Oil Just Dreamed Up - New Pineapple Dream Cake - Shelf Life loves this ad, for two reasons: (1) the colours and the graphic design are a knockout; and (2) the last bit of small print refers to baking at high altitudes, which is an issue that is rarely if ever mentioned in ad copy these days. It’s a rare acknowledgement that we must all, occasionally, bow to the demands of science.

Spread for a story meant to challenge how people perceive what healthy looks like. Was incredibly nervous presenting the concept to Nick Vujicic. The concern was he might be offended, but he got how powerful the image could be and was amazing to work with.

I worked with our DD Mark Montgomery and Joe Lertola at Bryan Christie Design to create this graphic that summarizes the history of Martian space travel.
Originally appearing in our print magazine, then our web site, this graphic took on a life of its own after someone uploaded it to a random image server and it spread virally to numerous blogs, including Fast Company, Digg, Boing Boing and many others.
