not entirely sure of the species - am thinking it is Sinea diadema based on the tortoise shell-like markings along the back (not visible from this angle), but it's definitely in the Sinea genus

i wasn't able to capture the jewel-like magnificence of this pupa with the sun gleaming off of the mother-of-pearl like shell, which first caught my eye as it danced about in the breeze
so this will have to do
the pattern is quite pretty and ornate, which is interesting because the caterpillar and butterfly forms aren't all too spectacular in appearance

i believe this to a member of the species ormenoides venusta, based on the orange-ish edges along the wings
taken just after a good soaking rain w/ my camera peering deep into the shrubbery - especially pleased w/ the way the boxwood leaves resemble glowing lights to set the mood
