For this weekās Macro Mondays theme of āMysteriousā I have chosen to photograph smoke. This is a subject Iāve attempted in the past with various degrees of success. You are never sure of the outcome, which makes it mysterious in the extreme!
For this shot, I have used 3 Bowens GM500 lights, each to the rear of the smoke. Each light is fitted with a 15° snoot and honeycomb grid, and individually coloured with either a red, green or blue gel. By using the additive colour principle (mixing the different light colours of red, green, and blue) the other colours used in the additive colour system are created. Red + Green = Yellow, Red + Blue = Magenta, Blue + Green = Cyan. Where the three colours mix together, white light is produced.

Taken for the Macro Mondays theme of 'Miniature'
I placed the boat on a windowsill with natural light coming from the right and placed a a sheet of transparent blue plastic behind to give the effect of water.

HMM...the theme for macromondays for today, 5/13, is
"a spoonful" and one must stay within the parameters of size while still showing at least a portion of the bowl of the spoon and the contents. the theme's explanation can be found here:

this portion of the spoon is just under 2 and a quarter inches
