All plies are tied together and then pulled down through the hollow spindle with something that looks just like an automobile dipstick, but with a hook on the end.

Everyone knows how it feels to walk into a sex store and ask for something which is a bit different such as sex wings or an automatic sex machine. Visit us at - bit.ly/3sBlXXo

Vollis Simpson’s multi-colored whirligig or wind machine consists of forty separate movable elements—fans, blades, propellers, wheels, and more—enabling it to take flight with even the slightest breeze.

Recycling discarded parts from cars, trucks, bicycles, farm machinery, street lights, and highways signs, Simpson’s whirligigs transform cast-off everyday objects and industrial materials into whimsical, dancing, spinning wind machines whose sole purpose is its fantastic visual impact.

Much of the machinery serviced in the Yarloop steam workshop came from Europe, almost literally on the other side of the world, and back in an era when steam ships and telegraph were still novel inventions a replacement part could take months to arrive... so every significant part of every machine was replicated in wood as a three dimensional full scale patterns (AKA molds), some colour coded to denote different metals used in the construction, to allow the workshop to build up home made replacement parts as, and when, they were needed.

These moulds fill an entire large shed, stacked several deep along four walls from floor to ceiling,

La Machine is a former mining town in the Nièvre département of Burgundy Franche-Comte region, central France. It has a population of 3,397 (2014).

This refurbished miniature steam train currently stands at the entrance to the town in Rue de Decize. Such a train may have been used to carry miners and materials above and/or under ground when the mine was operational.

OK, so Nephew has this computer game called "Crazy Machines". These gears are part of the game; you use them and other building components to make machines to accomplish little tasks. He loves the game, and wanted me to make a cake for his birthday party with his friends that looked JUST like these gears.

So this photo was my model for the gear cake.

Hudson, Ohio, USA, March 2008.

Sunday 31 March 2013, FIS had a very nice meetup in the Industrial neighbourhood of Mullae-dong. This former iron working district is gradually being turned over to artists' studios and galleries. I am not sure if it could really be called urban renewal, but certainly an interesting corner of an old neighbourhood.

It took me quite awhile to find this butterfly ring and this watch. I had to run to different places to hunt for it. Both items are the last stock in shop.

Half Machine 2008, Copenhagen: THE SHAIDON EFFECT (DJ SET / LIVE DRUM SET / LIVE DANCERS) presents THE SPECIAL PLAYER

THE SPECIAL PLAYER is a fully interactive environment. Involving a sophisticated responsive motion tracking technique, professional dancers, DJs and the public, THE SPECIAL PLAYER explores a massively disquieting conspirative narration revolutionizing the concept of augmented reality and sense of self.

HALF MACHINE artists collective work within interactive art installations, dance performance and concert events - complex collaborative art experiments involving the audience.

An international group of artists create large scale light- and water installations, aerial suspensions, pyrotechnics, high voltage labs and more from recycled materials and electronic wizardry.

The Paparazzi Bots is a series of five autonomous robots each standing at the height of the average human. Comprised of multiple microprocessors, cameras, sensors, code and robotic actuators on a custom-built rolling platform, they move at the speed of a walking human, avoiding walls and obstacles while using sensors to move toward humans. They seek one thing, which is to capture photos of people and to make these images available to the press and the world wide web as a statement of culture's obsession with the “celebrity image” and especially our own images. The flash autonomously goes off, capturing people’s photos and elevating them to “celebrity” in a kind of momentary anointing by the robots. The robots also become celebrities through their association to the “famous people” at the exhibition that are captured by the Paparazzi Bots.

Each autonomous robot can make the decision to take the photos of particular people, while ignoring other humans in the exhibition, based on things such as, whether or not the viewers are smiling or the shape of their smile. When the robots identify a person or group they will automatically adjust their focus and use a series of bright flashes to record that moment.

Surveillance technologies straddle a delicate balance that we have in contemporary culture, where we are all photographed without our knowledge by cell phones, hidden cameras and sometimes “celebritized”. This is a kind of modern baptism with the camera flash and the spectacle of being the focus of the camera becoming a kind of techno anointing.

This work explores ideas surrounding the shifting territories of self and machine and how machines can manipulate the other (us) in a grand co-evolutionary dance of emerging robot-human relations.

The recent emergence of social networks and their ability to connect people through software prompts via the world wide web is a prime example of the co-evolution of humans and their intelligent machines. The fact that the software prompts exploit our social needs for connectivity and social space is so easily exploited in this new critical juncture in our emerging machine human relations.

This camera can track your head and be set to take a photo if you smile mildly, medium-smile or pull-a-muscle smile. When set to smile mode, they do seem to prefer even smiles rather than crooked smiles so here the machine is making determinations about issues of "beauty". I have considered holding a robot beauty contest as an addition to this work.

There is a laundry area on each deck with two washers and dryers. Also there is a vending machine for powdered soap, bleach and softener. To the left of this picture there is an ironing board and an iron as well as a change machine. It costs $1.00 to wash and $.25 for every 15 minutes of drying time. The soap costs $1 for a box which does one load.

Part of a machine at my auto repair shop.

These giant machines are used to put coal out to the stockpile and reclaim coal from the stockpile. A Bucket Wheel Machine can move approximately 3,000 tonnes of coal in an hour.

Bucket wheel machines run on rail tracks which are about a quarter of a mile in length.

The cutting wheel is 9 metres in diameter and has nine buckets.

Remember these machines? They dispensed a little book of stamps, which always seemed to have a couple of odd denominations to make up the value. (I probably still have a few nearly-empty books somewhere, with their leftover penny stamps intact.)
