Abraham is the father of the multitude, a biblical character: the son of Terah, the father of Ishmael and Isaac. Ancestor of Jews, Arabs and other nations. The first of the three Jewish patriarchs (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob); the first to be called a Jew in the Bible (Gen. 14:13). In Islam, it corresponds to Ibrahim, the son of Azar.
In the New Testament, Abraham, along with Moses, is the most frequently mentioned Old Testament righteous man. The genealogy of Jesus is traced back to Abraham, the progenitor of all Jews: “The genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham” (Matthew 1:1).
In the Christian tradition, the image of Patriarch Abraham serves as a prototype of the highest piety and righteousness in both the Old and New Testaments. According to John Chrysostom, Abraham was the guardian and teacher of the faith and morality of his people among the pagans around him.

A completely unusual view: Fields with spring barley, densely overgrown with cornflowers. As it turned out later it were fields on which malting barley was cultivated ecologically, the multitude of cornflowers clearly proves it.
Praise to God for his powerful works according to the multitude of his greatness.
The Moon is the only natural satellite of the Earth and the fifth largest in the solar system. It is the largest natural satellite of a planet in the solar system relative to the size of your primary body having 27% of the diameter and 60% of Earth's density, which is 1/81 of its mass. Among the satellites whose density is known, the Moon is the densest second behind Io. It is estimated that the moon formation occurred some 4.5 billion years, relatively soon after the formation of the Earth. Although in the past have been proposed several hypotheses for their origin, the most consensual explanation is currently that the Moon was formed from the debris of an impact of gigantic proportions between Earth and another body the size of Mars.
A multitude of Instagrammers were here with their phones, but I reckon I've got the better of them on this occasion with my shot of this much photographed building owned by the Ladies' Scottish Mountain Club. Opinion seems to be split as to whether the name is one word or two.
In PP, I've worked a a fair bit to even out the sky gradient as there was a good deal of haze on the left, I've also cranked up the saturation (because everybody else does, and I don't want to be different). Finally a bit of cloning to remove the ever present dust on my sensor (honestly, it would be easier to clean it).
Edit: colours seemed way too bright on my phone, so I've pulled down the saturation a bit.
Vernal ponds form every Spring rainy season. Low areas flood in the forest and provide a niche for a multitude of organisms.
Mayapples are a native perennial wildflower in Michigan. It's sometimes called "Mandrake" because its roots resemble the European Mandrake. Mayapple produces a single white flower, and by May a single large fruit forms. The lemon-shaped fruit is supposedly edible, but I would have to be pretty hungry to eat it.
The image was built up using a multitude of stellated mirrors but "Consummation", while still using mirroring, is patterned more with right angles. Some may see 'Crosses' and 'Stars of David' and wonder if there's a covert religious message here. There isn't. It is all about shapes and visual relationships ... nothing more. Besides, both the stars and the crosses are truncated in certain places, so they really bear no connection to religious icons. 6 Point stars and cross shapes exist in many Non-Abramic cultures. Art in the service of pure Abstraction is the intent here.
Again, I indulged in the play between symmetry and asymmetry. When utilizing previous images in these collages, elements and features of those pieces still show, which adds to the interest of the finished "Extreme Mirror" work. Bits of line, text and parts of discernible images peek through. And one is hard-pressed to find where one element, shape or graphic begins and another begins. Layers are deliberately mixed and layered in such a way that very little has total dominance. These pieces then, weave back and forth between fore, middle and back grounds. This falls in line with my view that no single, fixed view of reality can be the total picture.

A few days ago our dear Paty told us goodbye. He had a very happy life with us and we with her. It was always one more in the family and without a doubt the most spoiled! Leave multitude of memories in our memory, hundreds of photographs on the hard drive and a huge emptiness in our hearts. With tears in my eyes I write these words.
I miss you so much.
Until always my little Paty !!!!!
Among The Multitudes
I am who I am.
A coincidence no less unthinkable
than any other.
I could have different
ancestors, after all.
I could have fluttered
from another nest
or crawled bescaled
from another tree.
Nature's wardrobe
holds a fair supply of costumes:
spider, seagull, fieldmouse.
Each fits perfectly right off
and is dutifully worn
into shreds.
I didn't get a choice either,
but I can't complain.
I could have been someone
much less separate.
Someone from an anthill, shoal, or buzzing swarm,
an inch of landscape ruffled by the wind.
Someone much less fortunate,
bred for my fur
or Christmas dinner,
something swimming under a square of glass.
A tree rooted to the ground
as the fire draws near.
A grass blade trampled by a stampede
of incomprehensible events.
A shady type whose darkness
dazzled some.
What if I'd prompted only fear,
loathing,
or pity?
If I'd been born
in the wrong tribe
with all roads closed before me?
Fate has been kind
to me thus far.
I might never have been given
the memory of happy moments.
My yen for comparison
might have been taken away.
I might have been myself minus amazement,
that is,
someone completely different.

India's functional anarchy
Agra (India) - There are days when only one or two good photos are taken, or not at all. On the other hand, sometimes, we fall without having looked for it on a multitude of scenes to no longer know where to point our lens. Obvious scenes where everything is there. Gift ! This is what happened that day near Agra Fort, the city where people usually come to visit the Taj Mahal.
I had gone in search of the large local market in the red fort district. Stranded in traffic, the rickshaw driver dropped me off a few streets from the market. We were in the middle of an Indian-style delivery operation on a street where the storage sheds are. It is here that goods arrive from all over India. Some will stay here, others will go to other states. Indian functional anarchy in all its splendor.
I have a particular affection for this photo despite some imperfections. Imperfections which in my opinion contribute to the restitution of the madness that reigns in this street.
The two men at the top of the frame on the left, enter the photo, while the one with a bag on his head -on the right edge of the frame- goes out. The bag is certainly cut, but what usually could pass for a composition error, does not bother me at all. I find that on the contrary, this "cut" brings a certain dynamic to the image and information: He's already gone!
As for the “driver” of the cycle rickshaw loaded like a mule and the handler, located in the center, they appear as the main subject, while participating in the diagonal formed with the secondary characters in the background.
The whole illustrates the madness that characterizes this country and which makes it annoying and yet so endearing.

'I Contain Multitudes' was created from a photo of a sunflower. It refers to God's promise to Abraham, and draws its title from lines in a Walt Whitman poem. it is a part of the Botanical beauty exhibition in Jerusalem.
Gardens by the Bay domes housing a multitude of plants and trees from all over the world. From afar Singapore may look like any modern metropolis, but that impression fades away once you walk the streets and parks of this magnificent city. The Park Connector Network, a series of walking and biking trails, comprehensively links the city's parks and green spaces, so much so that one can walk all around the island if one has the time. Even the skyscrapers are adorned with manicured hanging gardens, that soften the look of steel and glass towers, and create a soothing and inviting environment. Singapore is an outstanding example of what thoughtful and creative urban planning should be.

I've always found it very ironic that the one day in America designated for kindness and gratitude is also a day when the multitudes make a conscious choice to eat an animal when they don't have to.
It was my love of cats that made me decide to go vegetarian at 13 years old because I was taught to not discriminate against humans so why not apply the same to animals? How could I justify eating a pig, a turkey, a cow if I could never eat a cat or a dog? It made me question the way our society values some lives more than others and caused me to start thinking with a mind for social justice too. When systems say "It's ok to do this even when you feel this...." all you have to do is follow the money. Factory farming in this country in and of itself is a multi billion dollar industry that causes great harm to both animals and the environment. Why should we choose profit over the lives of animals as well as our own health?
There are so many stray cats in need of love and medical treatment. To me, it is like living in a city where you see people sleeping and begging on the street often. You feel like every dollar you give will never be enough. But, there's something to be said for when you are part of a vast world of great suffering and you help even one life.
This cat was found in a rescue orientated cat café and was actually provided with multiple medical treatments out of the pockets of the volunteers who worked there to keep it alive. One of the best cats I ever had, Buckley (named after Tim and Jeff), was a cat I adopted after a volunteer at the rescue agency paid over $2000 for a surgery, which I definitely would not have been able to afford at that time in my life. Buckley lived at least a decade in my arms and resembled this little guy. He would head butt me in bed and I'd lift up my blanket and he'd sleep and purr right beside me all night. When the time came for his life to end, I held him in my arms until his very last breath and I have no doubt he knew he was loved. All of this because someone said, "Yes, there is immeasurable suffering on this Earth but I can make a choice to make it less for this creature. "
Our choices matter.

It’s 8o’ clock in the morning in Jökulsárlón lake, at the head of Breiðamerkurjökull glacier in Iceland.
The dark sand of the volcanic beach, starred with a multitude of glittering icebergs, is bathed in the golden, flamy light of the sunrise.
The warm gleam of the aurora shimmers on the milky foam of the oceanic waves, irradiating colours that seem to fuse the rosiness of a garden in bloom with the warm, intense shades of the summer fruits.
It feels almost as if Nature has found its own poetic way of creating a springtime atmosphere in this remote corner of the planet, where the power of the elements can often be perceived in its strongest and harshest manifestations, and where the dominant colours that are more likely to paint the stirring landscape are the deep blue of the ocean and the lead-grey of the heavy clouds, threatening furious tempests.
Yet, despite of the algid breeze, the atmosphere in Jökulsárlón is surreally serene; almost mystical.
I venture among the icebergs, whose glimmering translucency make look like precious meteors, caressed by light and lulled by the waves...mysterious entities that evoke both loneliness and emotional connections, whose suggestive shapes have captivated artists’ fantasy and imagination.
The inspirational power of Jökulsárlón is almost palpable.
This unique scenery, gently unveiled by the rays of the dawn, may suggest endless allegorical meaning.
To me, it seems that the glittering icebergs stand out from the black sand as the most ecstatic moments of happiness and the most intense experiences on one’s life path.
They all seem to evoke a significant moment in time, an emotion, a sensation, a sentiment crystallized in one’s memory and surviving to the fluctuating rhythm of life, here represented by the perpetual crashing of the waves on the ice.
Serenity can be experience as a continuum, as a persistent state of mind and so can sadness, I believe.
But the moments which bear the deepest emotional power are, by definition, just isolated moments, instants, gleams of light or shivers of dark despair. Thus, the collection of photographs taken in this unforgettable location, have been created in the light of this allegorical key.
About "Light on ice":
The colours reflected on the iceberg made me think of that indefinable glow of delight that beautifies the smile of a person in love. The image symbolizes the warmth of Love, here represented by the radiance of the aurora’s rays that brings to life the magical iridescence of the lonely iceberg, just as Love discloses the most prodigious virtues hidden in one’s soul.
I thought of framing this imaginative encounter of light and ice, by recording the motion of the waves with a long exposure to reach the visual feel of a silky blanket of golden foam surrounding the iceberg.

“Frequently consider the connection of all things in the Universe. Reflect upon the multitude of bodily and mental events taking place in the same brief time, simultaneously in every one of us and so you will not be surprised that many more events, or rather all things that come to pass, exist simultaneously in the one and entire unity, which we call the Universe. We should not say ‘I am an Athenian’ or ‘I am a Roman’ but ‘I am a Citizen of the Universe'.”

Today I'm a little late publishing both of my pictures. But sometimes I have appointments.
Nevertheless, I'm sticking to my last plan and, after the mystical castle this afternoon, I'm going to go up the Prachov Rocks in the Czech Republic with you again (for the second to last time).
Here, in this spot, with this view, I waited for almost two hours for the sun to set. And while at the beginning I could still hear the conversations of passing visitors here and there, by the second hour I was completely alone up here (along with a multitude of singing birds). This experience alone was worth the walk up here.
By the way, the photo is a panorama made up of five vertical shots. This allowed me to include both the tree in the middle and the tree trunk at the bottom.

The Bayon is a richly decorated Khmer temple at Angkor in Cambodia. Built in the late 12th or early 13th century as the state temple of the Mahayana Buddhist King Jayavarman VII, the Bayon stands at the center of Jayavarman's capital, Angkor Thom. Following Jayavarman's death, it was modified and augmented by later Hindu and Theravada Buddhist kings in accordance with their own religious preferences.
The Bayon's most distinctive feature is the multitude of serene and smiling stone faces on the many towers which jut out from the upper terrace and cluster around its central peak. The temple has two sets of bas-reliefs, which present a combination of mythological, historical, and mundane scenes. The main conservatory body, the Japanese Government Team for the Safeguarding of Angkor (the JSA) has described the temple as "the most striking expression of the baroque style" of Khmer architecture, as contrasted with the classical style of Angkor Wat. Besides the multitude of squirrels and deer that we saw on Skyline Drive (Shenandoah National Park) we saw a flock of turkey hens. And that is something neither of us had ever seen up there before! Such a cool time to take that drive, almost no people (the weather was yucky) and nearly dark. :) Of to one of our favorite places today, Monterey in Highland County where they are having their Maple Festival. Should be fun!
The multitude of colors in this Fraser Valley image surprised me when processing this shot. From the yellow foreground, to the painted hills, and the dark water between. The rail line was busy as ever, and in a few minutes one long line of rail cars fed the hungry tracks.
