She heals

She calms

She rejuvenates

She is 'Mother Earth'

She is a living breathing organism

She is magnetic

She is magnificent

She can be ferocious

Mother nature at her best

She is the Dance of Life

This plant and flower grows madly around the Peak Hill gold mine. Last time I uploaded a shot, that was what it was commonly called, a highly toxic plant. As to whether that's its real name, someone else might know. Let me know if you know then we will all know!

The flowers in this article seem to agree!

In just a few hours it will be two years since my dear mother left this earth to go live with Heavenly Father again. I do miss her so. I think about her every single day and will continue to for the rest of my life. I can't wait to see her again when my turn on earth is over. I love you mom. :)

Geese and railroads are not usually in the same images for me. So my pulse quickened and I got out in the rain with my nifty 50 lens, squatted down and squeezed off a couple, hand held, nearly wide open real quick. I'm having a blast creating creamy bokeh and wonder why I didn't do more of that sooner. For me, it came together after calibrating the lens to the body, using back button focus in continuous mode, and trying a little harder to nail focus.... oh, and do not re-compose after acquiring critical focus on a subject that is fairly close. Thank you for your kind visits and comments my friends, and wishing you a restful Sunday!

L called me out to see this when leaving for school this morning, a wonderful unusual show of rare Nacreous clouds (mother of pearl clouds). It was a little sparkle to get the day started :D

Even though the image is a bit blurry, I think it's a beautiful portrait of mother and child-- giving more credit to the mother and baby than my photography, of course.

I just found three baby birds in our garden, they must have fallen out of their nest and lost their mother. Two of them ran away and we couldn't find them anymore but we could rescue at least this one. So a beautiful and sad moment at the same time.

And of course I instantly knew I had to take a photo with this little fellow :)

I didn't even think I'd take a photo this week. But sometimes life surprises us and offers beautiful, magical opportunities. <3

Over the moon to see my piece „Mothers Never Die“ selected as a finalist for the "Small, Random, and Meaningful" series by Transom.org - Listen to Laurence's story here: transom.org/2023/mothers-never-die/

And, you may also like to read the text I wrote about this piece.

Here is an excerpt from the text I wrote about this four-minute piece:

"During a visit in Paris at the end of 2022 I mentioned to Laurence that I would like to create an audio piece about the Unspeakable or Unutterable. The idea was to tell a story where we have difficulties finding the right words — it’s either because we’re laughing so hard that we can’t string a coherent sentence together, or because of challenging, upsetting, painful, traumatic experiences where we struggle to find the right words.

The only thing I knew was that the piece needed to be short. However, even an audio narrative of less than five minutes can feel too long if the “magic” does not occur — the special moment that resonates with me and ideally captivates the listeners.

I asked Laurence if she had a story to tell that she would like to share, and she did.

“Mothers Never Die” is my first audio storytelling in English — the shortest piece I’ve done so far, and the only one without any background music.

In this piece, alongside the spoken words, silence also prevails, expressing the unspoken.

Henry Moore’s Mother and Child in St. Paul’s Cathedral

March122020

One of the most interesting pieces I found in St. Paul’s Cathedral was Henry Moore’s Mother and Child: Hood. Moore’s semi-abstract sculptures helped create a very specific form of modernism in the United Kingdom.

Completed in 1983 out of travertine marble, Moore’s take on Michelangelo’s Pieta is able to convey the grieving Mary after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ using minimal detail. The characteristic disparity in size between the Madonna and Christ becomes further exaggerated through the abstraction of form. The way Moore nests the two figures strengthens the maternal relationship by creating an almost wombic cradle.
