Whilst taking a little stroll around my new residence, I came across this lonely looking Morris Minor in need of tlc. It was hiding behind a rustic gate. Poor thing :-(
all comes down to the last hours before falling apart.. not much sleep these days, but always motivated regardless. #200 finally, now its a significant reason to purchase pro again in April ;)

Periwinkle (Vinca minor) is a creeping ground cover that has spread from gardens. It is so common that it is occasionally mistaken for a wildflower. The five petals create a pinwheel effect with a star outlined in the center. The evergreen leaves are glossy and appear in opposite pairs. 1970 Morris Minor
Production of this car was winding down when this car was manufactured in 1970
This car had a long production run from 1948 until 1971
With just small changes to the design along the 23 Year journey of production.
Nikon D4 | ISO 800 | 500mm lens | f / 4.0 | 1/8000 second. Nothing like a day game to freeze the action with a silly high shutter speed.
Looking immaculate in the early spring sunshine. There's a story about it here: www.walsham-le-willows.org/morris-minor-fundraising-tour-...
That article mentions it having a 948cc engine, but DVLA says it's just 803cc. Maybe it's been upgraded to make it a little more driveable in modern traffic conditions?

dedicating this to the brave and beautiful kelly.
had my bi-annual "maintenance physical" today. one of those dreaded doctor's visits full of pokes, prods and many, many vials of my blood leaving my body. ugh.
but, at this point in my life, i see it only as a minor inconvenience. i've been through the worst of it, i believe that. i am alive and i have my health and will never take such gifts for granted. ever.
so... now, it's all about the "check up" just to make sure all is well. fingers crossed, this will be the only photo of it's kind for another six months.
funny how "fingers crossed" can become a motto for living.
kelly - just wanted you to know you're not alone in this stuff.
it sucks, but at least you've got company.

The Minor had a production run from 1948-71 so they were produced by Morris, BMC and latterly British Leyland. The Traveller was produced from 1953 with this one rolling of the production line in 1968. Desertmartin Parish Church Garden Fete & Vintage Rally 2025.
Waiting to be auctioned was this 1962 Morris Minor.
Taken at the clearing Sale Auction near Woomelang, Victoria in 2019.
Went down to the garden centre with Mum for bulbs and seeds. In the car park, a lovingly-tended vintage 1960s Morris Minor. (Used cross processing for a retro effect).
As I was lying down on the tarmac to line up the shot, an elderly gent ambled past and grinned at me: "They don't make 'em like that these days", he said.

My very minor contribution to this project is the technical analysis of some of the textiles recovered from the site under the direction of an archaeologist who is a leading expert on North Atlantic textiles.

About the Borgund Kaupang Project
Borgund (outside of Ålesund in Møre og Romsdal County) was one of medieval Norway’s only 14 towns (see map). Sources suggest that the place dates back into the Viking Age and prospered until its late medieval abandonment. Known from literary sources and 20 seasons of archaeological excavations, little research has been carried out on the extensive datasets available. With multidisciplinary and pluralistic approaches, we address the economic and cultural prerequisites of Borgund from emergence to abandonment.
Our hypotheses are that:
1. Borgund, as one of Norway’s small towns, had a diverse economy with a central role in processing and refining natural resources from sea and land for domestic and international trade.
2. The inhabitants of Borgund were part of international economic, cultural and social networks and enjoyed a lifestyle with influences from distant parts of Europe and the North Atlantic.
With a human level, Perspective from below approach, we will study economic, cultural and social aspects of production, procurement and consumption of exotic and domestic materials at Borgund within national, European and North Atlantic contexts. The project includes two PhD projects dealing with
1. Production and consumption of iron objects and
2. Consumption of household soapstone and pottery vessels.
In addition, a team of national and international experts approach a broad spectrum of sources: Churches and secular buildings, imported textiles, gender related objects, exotic and domestic everyday accessories, literary sources and more.
This approach adds new insights about life in small communities on the periphery of Europe, and the roles they played on the world stage.
